Three to Deliver 4G ‘at no Extra Cost.’

Mobile network operator Three have made a commitment to provide its customers with the latest 4G technology, at no additional cost to their smartphone price plans.


Three are working hard to deliver 4G coverage to its customers, with LTE services due to be switched on later this year. However, Three are determined that its customers should enjoy these services without having to pay extra to get them.

Initially Three will be able to launch 4G services utilising spectrum from EE on the 1800MHz frequency, which is set to go live in September. In the meantime work continues to bring customers higher data speeds using DC-HSPDA, which covers 55% of the UK population, with 80% coverage scheduled for March.

Once 4G coverage comes online in September, Three will make it available to customers with a compatible device, without need to change their SIM, and without adding a premium to their price plans.

We do not want to limit Ultrafast services to a select few based on a premium price and we have decided our customers will get this service as standard. As well as offering the Apple iPhone 5, Three will also be ranging the Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE, Sony Xperia Z and BlackBerry Z10, all equipped to bring 4G services to Three customers Ultrafast data speeds when the 4G network launches later this year.
