Sony have announced that their recently unveiled smartphone, the Sony Xperia Z, is available to pre-order from today. And for all those who place an advance order for the device, Sony will be bundling in premium Sony MDR-1R headphones, worth £299.
The Xperia Z was revealed by Sony at the recent Consumer Electric Show in Las Vegas, boasting a number of exciting features.
With a large, 5.0 inch TFT Capacitive touchscreen, the Sony Xperia Z is water proof, able to stay in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The display is covered by a shatter proof and scratch resistant glass, making the Xperia Z a real tough customer.
But there is more to the Xperia Z than just strength, the device is a powerful smartphone that will carry the flagship banner for the Xperia range into 2013.
Powered by a quad core 1.5 GHz processor, the handset will ship with the latest version of the Android operating system pre-installed, Android Jelly Bean 4.1. The handset has a 13.1 Megapixel camera, with support for 1080p HD video recording, and a front facing 2.2 Megapixel camera which is also capable of recording 1080p HD video.
The Xperia Z is compatible with 4G LTE networks, and supports HSDPA and WiFi, with WiFi Direct, DLNA and WiFi Hotspot included. Other notable features include NFC, GPS with aGPS and GLONASS, full media player and Stereo FM Radio with RDS.
As well as the outstanding hardware features, Sony will be pushing the content available to their Xperia devices, with a range of exclusive content from Sony Music, highlighting the multimedia capabilities of the Xperia range.
“We are launching a revolutionary smartphone that lets consumers experience the best of Sony. To show off the “WALKMAN”, Album and Movies apps the Xperia Z will include music videos some of the freshest new talent from Sony music and as a special gift for those who pre-order we are including MDR-1R headphones that boast both performance and style,” said Catherine Cherry, UK Marketing Director at Sony.
