Apple Release iOS 6.1 for iPhone, iPad

Apple has released the latest version of iOS, version 6.1, which is available to download now for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

iOS LogoThe latest version contains a number of improvements, including LTE support for additional worldwide carriers, and iTunes Match subscribers are now able to download individual songs from iCloud.

For users in the US, it is possible to purchase cinema tickets from Fandango using Siri, and in addition there are a number of bug fixes and general improvements too.

Philip Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Apple, said: “iOS 6 is the world's most advanced mobile operating system, and with nearly 300 million iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices on iOS 6 in just five months, it may be the most popular new version of an OS in history. iOS 6.1 brings LTE support to more markets around the world, so even more users can enjoy ultrafast Safari browsing, FaceTime video calls, iCloud services and iTunes and App Store downloads.”

The iOS 6.1 update is available to download now as a free update from the Apple App Store, for the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3G S, iPad third and fourth generation, iPad Mini, iPad 2, and iPod Touch fourth and fifth generation. The general improvements and bug fixes make it a worthwhile update, even if the headline features are of no interest.
