Is the iPhone right for you?
The Apple iPhone has been with us for a while now and went down a storm with consumers due to its ease of use, sleek sexy design and a plethora of mobile phone applications that no other manufacturer can rival at present.
It revolutionised the way we think of our mobile phones - in fact we now see them as smartphones because they are so intuitive, performing and acting more like a personal computer in the palm of our hands. Never before has our mobile phone handset kept us in communication so well on the go with our friends, family, emails, social media and the internet.
The latest iPhone 4S is another leap forward from the previous iPhone 4 giving users more innovation with dual core processing power for advanced apps/games, 8 megapixel camera with video recording at HD 1080p and Siri voice commands with iOS 5.
This is all on top of the existing iPhone 4 Retina Display with remarkable clarity of picture, multitasking, HD video and its feature, FaceTime giving family and friends who also have an iPhone 4 or 4S face to face calls (*if a wireless network is available).
Apple handsets are always highly anticipated and 2012 will likely see the debut and the next step in the iPhone evolution, the iPhone 5. Now Apple have reduced the price of the iPhone 3GS to compete with the vast number of budget Android phones making inroads in the marketplace.
Apple have created a premium product that costs even to buy the handset as well as the contract on top which puts many users off. However Apple create stunning devices with a user experience that many believe cannot be rivalled due to ease of use on its iOS software which continues to attract many loyal customers not to mention the app store which has far more apps than any other operating system.
Everything is integrated and made as simple as possible across updates, adding your MP3s or installing the latest app or game. There are alternative handsets from rival manufacturers with hardware more powerful than Apple handsets but the learning curve is sometimes a bit too much and the user support is not as easily accessible. It just seems everyone knows how to pick up an iPhone and know how to use it which is a credit to Apple.
We have a variety of iPhone deals available to search through at varying prices. Compare iPhone tariffs to find the best iPhone contracts to suit your budget.
iPhone alternatives
The mobile phone market is getting more fierce by the day with many manufacturers targeting the iPhone as the primary benchmark. Manufacturers like HTC, Samsung and Sony Ericsson to name a few, tend to produce new handsets on a more regular basis than Apple so their hardware often surpasses the iPhone family of phones or in fact is already ahead.
They are also making inroads into making their user interfaces on par with the iPhone with the Google pioneered operating system, Android. Certainly Android phones are at the forefront of that movement closely followed by Blackberry phones with their own OS and Windows Mango coming soon.
If you are looking for alternatives that are more powerful than the iPhone then you should check out Android handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 the biggest selling rival, HTC desire S or the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray.
If you want to consider a Blackberry alternative then the Blackberry Bold 9900 or Blackberry Curve 9360 should be worth checking out giving you BBM access.
Just around the corner or new to the market is the HTC Titan which runs on Windows and HTC Sensation XE which is an upgrade to the original Sensation handset with Beats audio if your into your music clarity. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is set to join the party in style being the first handset to run Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich variant.
