Sony has released details of the planned updates for selected Xperia handsets, which will be rolling out beginning this month. All of the 2011 Xperia handsets will be getting the update, although Sony are warning that the ICS update will be less stable than the current version of Gingerbread the devices currently use. Sony Ericsson has released an Alpha version of the Android 4.0 ROM to the developer community, which is compatible with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and the Xperia Ray. The ROM can be installed on unlocked, unbranded devices, but beware, this is an early release version, that lacks some of the poplar Android services such as Gmail and Google Maps, as well as having no working WiFi or Bluetooth.
