Not a bad phone. Good music player but a bit dated now

Not a bad phone. Good music player but a bit dated now. Good network connection on 3. All the standard features of a phone. Not a bad memory capacity. Doesnt look much now compared with the new mobiles available on the market but it has done ok as a replacement for my other phone I lost.

tend to use the Walkman facility though which I like very much

A good all-round phone, I cannot say I have used it for taking many pictures but I do tend to use the Walkman facility though which I like very much. It might be me but I would like to increase the duration of the ringing before it diverts to my voicemail/answerphone, if this is possible maybe this should be easier or more clear in my phone options.

will take something special for me to part with it

This is the best mobile phone I've ever had the pleasure of using. It's key feature is its simplicity. From using the Walkman feature to browsing the web, everything is easy.

The main reason I bought the phone is because of the Walkman feature. Depending on the size of the memory card, then you can store more songs. The sound quality is amazing and the usability is its key selling point.

I've been offered the chance to upgrade a few times but I'm so happy with this mobile that it will take something special for me to part with it.

512mb card which allows you to store enough songs and pictures

This is a very good phone and very easy to use and also comes with a 512mb card which allows you to store enough songs and pictures etc. I have not had any problems with this phone and have had it for over 1 year now and I am still very happy with it as it allows me to save and do everything I need and want to.

Great if you are a multi tasking type of person

I think this phone is great if you are a multi tasking type of person ie you prefer being able to listen to your music while going through your phone instead of having to log out of everything just to open the text you just recieve.

The volume range is rather good, it ranges from so quiet that it can be background music so it does not disturb your thoughts while keeping you pleasantly relaxed. On the other side of this range, its loud enough to dance to with your mates. On the other hand, this phone would be useless if you are trying to listen to music without the headset in a busy and loud setting. You may hear a few words but thats about all you are going to get.

When it comes to putting your phone in your pocket, its not the most attractive looking thing as it sticks out like a sore thumb. Overall its very easy to use and not at all frustrating. However, it is not suitable for those whose phones are a fashion item or those who have an obsessively close relationship with there phone.

still to this day one of the best Walkman phones around

This was the 1st upgrade to the original Walkman mobile phone the W800i and still to this day one of the best Walkman phones around.

This is a massivley reliable phone great for dropping and never breaking. A friend of mine even dropped hers down the toilet and it carried on working.

This phone has a great speaker, especially if you like blasting your music in your bedroom, in your garden or just wandering around outside with it and is very clear. Both Mp3 & Aac formats are supported by the media player on the W810i. You can change the settings on the equalizer & make it even louder by putting all of the "lines" up. Its easy to transfer music to the phone via the computer with the usb connection, and also through bluetooth from friends.

Also fun for taking pictures, with its 2.0 megapixel camera and 4x digital zoom. So generally a good phone for going out & about with.

Well I personally and many others do love this phone because of how easily it seems to fit into day to day life particularly with the photos & music.

MP3 player is very easy to use and sounds amazing

Phone, MP3 player, camera and a notebook all in one low-cost and easy to use mobile handset.

The phone (on Orange pay as you go) has been used in the UK, Greek Islands, Spain, and the Canary Islands and has good coverage.

The camera takes good pictures even when used full screen on a PC. It gets a little grainy with night or dark pictures, however, it is no substitute for a digital camera.

The MP3 player is very easy to use and sounds amazing even with the supplied headphones. The supplied software Disc2Phone makes downloading very easy.

definitely one of the best models that Sony Ericsson have churned out

Although this is rapidly becoming an older model, it is definitely one of the best models that Sony Ericsson have churned out.

The music player is very simple to work and can be used without going into the phone settings. The software is equally easy to use to transfer music to and from your computer.

I have dropped this handset a few times and it gets battered around in my handbag quite a lot, it is very robust. The camera is not the best on the market but it does very well and transfers pictures very easily. A handset well worth having.

Good phone and features, MP3 player software lacking

Bright screen, good sound, small keys for small fingers, decent camera. MP3 player software unreliable under Vista. Using Windows file transfer the order of tracks gets mangled by the phone. Can stop playing for no obvious reason. Great phone, poor MP3.

still works as well as it did the first day

I have had this phone for nearly 2 years now and it still works as well as it did the first day, even the battery is still well considering how long I've had the phone and I'm a heavy user. Anyone who is looking at buying a second hand phone I would definately recommend it.

who needs an iPod nano? not me

The W810i from Sony Ericsson is still one of the best music phones around. I have over 300 songs on it and love the random play feature. You can also buy a mini speaker stand that is really good value and looks a bit like an iPod dock, I got mine on eBay for £20, bargain, who needs an iPod nano? not me.

internet or e-mailing friends this is a good sleek, well designed mobile phone

On the internet or e-mailing friends this is a very good sleek, well designed mobile phone. The only down fall is when you reset the phone the picture messaging and e-mail settings cannot be reset with out ringing customer services or going to the shop. Though this rarely happens. I am looking for a upgrade of this type of phone on pay as you go only.

I love it, it has everything I need, perfect size and design brilliant

I lost this phone in a taxi and didn't have insurance so bought another cheap phone until I could afford to get this one again. I love it, it has everything I need, perfect size and design brilliant. The phone comes with 512mb card which can store about 30 songs and the pictures are good quality and it has good flash.

more than enough to rival a small seperate mp3 player

This phone is simply the best phone I have ever used, it has been reliable and extremely easy to use. The MP3 player holds at least 10 full albums and is more than enough to rival a small seperate mp3 player.

This is a great phone to simply crush any of the other cheaper phones on the market. I have even tried some of my friends newer phones and believe this still to be better. A must buy if looking for a cheaper new phone to the more expensive newer phones on the market.

Another smart phone from Sony Ericsson

Another smart phone from Sony Ericsson, the Walkman function on this phone is fantastic, easy to locate and ideally placed for easy use, the torch is also an excellent addition, very bright.

I have never had a problem with it and this phone even lived after getting dropped into water when there was a flood, just had to wait for it to dry out.

Wanted a phone close to my previous trusty phone, W810i didn't dissapoint

I upgraded to this phone purely because the W800i that I was using got water damage and had to be replaced. I wanted a phone as close to the trusty phone that I had before and the W810i didn't dissapoint.

The sleek black colour is attractive (and doesn't show scratches and scuffs easily) and even though mobiles date quickly I'm not embarassed to pull this out of my bag some two years later.

The phone is incredibly easy to use with a simple left right up down navigation in the middle and two buttons either side which take you to either the Walkman facility or your most recent calls and messages.

I really enjoy the Walkman facility, it comes already with a 512mb memory card which stores about 150 songs for me and the sound is loud enough, ok you can't host a disco but to be played in my car or bedroom is perfect.

The camera isn't fantastic but at 2.0 mega pixel with a flash it will cope taking all the snaps youll need to remember a night out.

Finally the battery life is good and there are more than enough extra features to keep you busy. Hope you enjoy

If you want an MP3 Player compatible with iTunes, this is perfect

I love this phone, its ease of use is second to none, if you want a phone that will work as an MP3 player then this is the phone for you, it is fully compatible with iTunes so its really easy to get music on and off. Small and light, good quality photo and video.

Great music player too which has replaced my iPod

Very easy to use and find your way around all the features, there is a great music player too which has replaced my iPod, can fit plenty on there with a decent size memory card.

Bad points are I find that my phone sometimes crashes for no reason, I have had two of these mobile handsets with the same problem, overall a good phone though.

Best phone that I have had yet

I had this phone for 18 months and its the best phone that I have had yet - its really easy to use and the software for the computer in order to upload/download things onto it was great - I have since upgraded to another Sony but not finding it as good as the W810i.

The only downfall was that by the end of my 18 months it had started to freeze and it could have done with a new battery.

A really handy phone, I love the camera, its only 2.0 megapixels but I found it really good, I like the back of the phone the most though as it looks groovy/hot. The screen is quite big, the buttons are the right size for my fingers, so yes overall I do love it and would recommend it.

Does the basics well at a reasonable price

Excellent phone, easy to use with good sound quality, not especially fussed over camera as this feature is not particularly important to me. Can easily replace MP3 player and I was surprised by the quality of reception of the FM radio. Seems to have everything most users would need at a reasonable price

I would have no problem in recommending it

Phone is easy to use and has good features, unlike some handsets I've used in the past, it is easy to transfer photos & videos taken using phone to a PC

Battery life very good, my only criticism is that the buttons are a bit small/awkward to use for sending text messages, but you soon get used to this.

Overall I like this handset and I would have no problem in recommending it.

Very good for basic needs

A very nice phone, and very good for basic needs such as making and receiving phone calls, text messaging and taking photos. However, the internal memory capacity is poor. Fortunately, the phone comes with a 512 MB card. Also, it appears that the call duration is not recorded in the call list. The web page viewing is poor, but I don't use this.

A negative with the design is that the button to take a photo is very hard to press quickly. Also, what is the point of the "Play Now" icon in the top right hand corner of the menu. I have never used this.

Fantastic phone for music

The W810i from Sony is a fantastic phone for music, however the speaker is very fragile and sound distortion can occur. The phone is light weight and very durable to any damage, the features are well organised and overall the phone is extremely easy to use.

This has been a good phone for me and easy to use, the features are good and I have enjoyed using it to take pictures of my newborn baby! However I just can't ever seem to get a good signal. This must be the phone though and not the sim card because when I place the sim card into another phone, the signal is fine!

Best mobile phone Sony Ericsson have ever made in my opinion

In my opinion the W810i from Sony Ericsson is the best mobile phone Sony Ericsson have ever made...nothing recent has even come close. Ive had this phone for 2 years now and this is my third one after losing two of them. I did try to go a few weeks with a Samsung but they have terrible design and I switched back to this phone. The best part is how easy to use this phone is and the features are still good 2 years later.

Very capable mobile phone

The sony erricson w810i is a very capable phone with some good features, especially the walkman aspect.

Can't fault the ease of use and the way every thing is set out.

The 2MP camera is capable of some really good little pictures of impressive quality - i've taken pictures that are really good qaulity.

Also a tough little phone that has taken some abuse and came back smiling.

Only criticism is that the paint rubbed off the buttons slightly prematurely and as with all exposed screen model phones once they are scratched they are hard to see.

I enjoy using the walkman feature on the Sony Ericsson W810i even though the battery life isn't long when it's being used.

It takes quite a long time to transfer songs onto the phone using the software supplied.

The predictive text feature is handy for long text messages.

Perfect in many ways

The Sony Ericsson W810i is perfect in many ways.

The only problems are the 't-zones' button which cannot be changed, and when playing music via the earphones, the connecter is easily breakable.

Other than that the phone makes a great phone, which is sadly going out of date.

A bit fiddly to use, probably more for woman with small fingers, the MP3 functionality is good.

Camera only 2 megapixel so images not great but ok for what I use it for...

Overall good phone, has not let me down yet but would not have another Sony Ericsson, will be back to Nokia next time.
