The buttons are tiny

Received this upgrade mobile a few weeks ago and it has taken me the same amount of time to get used to it. All features are the same as my old mobile apart from some updated bits eg games and camera is slightly different but overall it still easy to use in that sence.

The actual design of the phone is a different story. The buttons are tiny and even with small fingers I find it a nuisance to text people. I can usually text quite quickly but due to the size of the buttons I cant do this anymore and have to be very slow as you sometimes press 2 buttons at the same time and make many mistakes.

The sound is good, also the camera is very good with good quality pictures. Only other downside was that I was supposed to receive a memory card with the phone and didnt.

my Grand Canyon shots came out brilliant

The W705 looks great with a sleek silver and gold design and a rubberised back. In some functions the screen turns as you turn the phone which is clever but not original to this phone by any means. The camera is great and my Grand Canyon shots came out brilliant.

Texting is a little hard as the buttons are not separated at all. The screen is a little small for effective internet browsing but the display does switch to landscape if you turn the phone on its side. Better phones out there sure, but this one is good looking.

the design of the phone seemed bulky

Very easy to use, I loved the applications, including the Facebook one and the games. However, the design of the phone seemed bulky and not particularly attractive to me and despite being lightweight, I couldn't easily fit it in my pocket. The camera wasnt brilliant either.

fantastic phone I love mine, don't want to upgrade

Great phone with wifi, the WiFi works great, you can connect at home to your broadband connection or via any other WiFi connection while your about.

Features are great, has all the original Sony Ericsson features and you can download lots more applications over the internet.

Texting is great, using the new Sony Ericsson "conversations" feature which is like texting using an iPhone. Overall fantastic phone I love mine, don't want to upgrade, fantastic for the price too.

an attractive, well thought out phone

After my previous phone disaster (a w960i that never worked for the whole 18 months I had to suffer with it), I decided to get a slightly more basic phone in the hopes that it would be more reliable.

This has definately proved it's worth. There isn't really such thing as a basic phone anymore, and this one actually has a good camera (3.2mp, although it doesn't have auto focus), a walkman and radio feature, wifi and Memory Stick Micro compatibility.

The build quality is fairly good, although the hinge is a little more wobbly than I'd like. In general it's an attractive, well thought out phone that I haven't had any problems with in the 5 months I've had it.

Camera has to be held very still to get an unblurred photo

Overall, this is a very good phone, my first Sony and now I would not go back to Nokia, the only think that lets it down for me is the camera, it has to be held very still to get an unblurred photo but as it's a walkman phone not a cybershot phone I guess the focus is not on the camera although it is poorer than most on the market. The pics are good if you can get them still though apart from that - highly recommended

I less sleek and smooth than the W580i

I have just replaced my W580i with this model. As a big fan of the w580i, I couldnt wait to get this one up and running.

Although it has similar features the actual design is less appealing, less sleek and smooth than the W580i. It actually looks dare I say it quite cheap and less robust. The screen is bigger but this also means its more likely to get damaged. It also feels slightly awkward to handle, this maybe because its slightly larger than the w580i.

The volume settings are also alot less than I expected and it sounds quite quiet in comparison to the w580i. As well as the Mp3 player you get quite a few games. Not a bad phone but certainly not one of Ericssons better ones.

Excited, picked up my replacement W705

Sorry but I have had the worst experience with this phone! Having purchased it pay as you go 2 months ago at the end of June, I have had nothing but trouble!

Problem 1: Had it for one month and the screen started flickering and then switching itself off. My contacts were in gibberish chinese characters and couldn't switch it back on. Took it back to the O2 shop and was told it was without the 28 day warranty, so they had to send it away for repair. Waited a week, went back to get it and was told it had new software downloaded onto it.

Problem 2: Was literally in the shop for 10 mins playing about and it switched itself off again!! Told the manager who told me they would now send away for a replacement. Waited another week.

Problem 3: Excited, picked up my replacement W705! Took it home, but within 3 days, it played up again!!! Screen went pink flickering, then switched itself off. Couldn't text a message, or phone without it dying on me. Battery was not a problem. When I switched on the phone again and again, you could see the screen was on (with the glow of light) but nothing appeared on the screen.

Nightmare! I have now officially complained to O2 who said it may be a manufacturers fault. However, I cannot get a refund, only a replacement different model or phone.

Nothing but hassle. Forget the good additional features, I would rather have phone that allowed me the basics of phoning and texting.

walkman mp3 player which is the main reason I got it, its excellent

I really like this phone, it has a good camera, 3.2 megapixels, that as well as stills does very good video clips. The walkman mp3 player which is the main reason I got it is excellent, the earphones are pretty good too. Transferring files (mp3's, photo's and video's in particular) is very straightforward using the usb lead and the included software and the phone even comes with a 4Gb Micro Memory Stick.

Other great feature's are WiFi, great for downloading without the cost (assuming you have WiFi access of course!) and Bluetooth which was particularly important to me as it means the phone will connect to my TomTom Sat Nav enabling the hands free facility.

All in all a great phone and one I would happily recommend.

sound level of this phone is not what I expected

This is an easy to use mobile phone and has plenty of uses, one of my concerns is the sound level of this phone is not what I expected from a walkman phone, it could be much louder but overall I am happy.

The head phone supplied seems to keep falling out of my ears, I think the design needs to be reviewed but the concept that it blocks out the environmental sounds is very good and unique.

a great choice for media fans

Just got this phone and really quite like it. It is easy to use (have had Sony's for the last few years anyway so familiar with them) Love the google earth feature and the fact I can go on facebook. Have a 4mg memory card in it so have loads of space for photos and music. Very smart looking phone. All in a great choice for media fans.
