picture quality isnt too bad but overall I prefer the Nokia's
I have had this phone a while now even though I hardly use it as I hate it so much, this phone tends to freeze and the touchscreen is awful.
The picture quality isnt too bad but overall I prefer the Nokia's even with the lower megapixels as Nokia always seems clearer when you upload it onto the computer.
The ringtones are loud and the vibration is powerful meaning you can pretty much always hear it, however this seems to be the only good thing for me and this phone.
fantastic phone with more features than you'll know what to do with
Once you get used to the small hard buttons on the pad you'll find it dificult to use another phone again. Plus there can be some wierd flaws in the phone, eg it can turn itself off for no reason, however there are downloads of new software available on the Sony Ericsson website to correct this and any other issues.
Overall a fantastic phone with more features than you'll know what to do with.
almost a year now and I have had no major problems with it
I have had this phone for almost a year now, and I have had no major problems with it. Occasionally it will switch of but this has happened with most phones I have had.
If I had to pick any problems with it, it would be the media part of it. When entering the media section, It doesn't seem to be easy to sort thru pics etc. Maybe it's just me but If I was able to sort things into the order I want instead of the default order. Like sort it by name/date/size etc would be a lot better.
Overall though I really like the phone and the 5.0 meg camera. (apart from in a poor lit room)
flash doesnt always pick up what your taking pictures of
The phone is quite heavy and for a 5.0 megapixel camera the pictures arent great. I would say 1 in 3 pictures come out ok, the flash doesnt always pick up what your taking pictures of. The zoom is good but when you take a pic close up it doesnt always come out very good.
The phone itself is ok, the buttons are very small however I dont seem to have any problems with the touchscreen functions. It would be nice if this phone was a little thinner and lighter. This isnt the best Sony phone I have had.
Great phone design, very futuristic
Great phone design, very futuristic. The phone also boasts a touchscreen which is excellent but sometimes fails to respond.
Using the phone is simple but the buttons are small which is annoying and would not be appropriate for older users.
The camera is excellent considering it's built in a phone, 5.0 megapixels also with flash, had plenty of fun with the camera and no problems.
Before buying I would strongly advise insuring it as the phone is not cheap. Also the phone is prone to crashes so getting insurance and keeping your warrenty is a must.
Sony Ericsson will repair or send a new phone out to you, I think you have a 3 year guarantee but check to be on the safe side.
Even though it gives you all these problems its an extremely good phone and I would have it again. Thanks for reading hope you have found out some information about the phone your looking for.
3rd Sony Ericsson mobile phone I have had but it will be my last
This is the 3rd Sony Ericsson mobile phone I have had but it will be my last.
Phone first started freezing when I was texting and could only be reset by taking out the battery. Mildly annoying but I learnt to live with it.
Its now moved on to resetting itself, including in the middle of a call and on occasions is completely unusable due to loss of sound.
Its on its way for repair but I'm not holding out much hope. Am just waiting for my contract to end in two months time so I can get something different and it won't be another Sony.
Definitely not one to recommend to your friends.
5.0 Megapixel camera fantastic, the quality of the pictures are fab
I have been using the K850i from Sony Ericsson for a little over three weeks now, I find the 5.0 Megapixel camera fantastic, the quality of the pictures are fab. One point I still cannot get the hang of is the touchscreen as it will not pick up my touch all of the time if my fingers are cold for example, but other than that I like this phone and would recommend it.
becomes really slow as more songs, texts etc are added
The phone becomes really slow as more songs, texts etc are added, also the touch screen starts to have a mind of its own, its a pain when you are on the phone to someone as the touchscreen bits on mine sometimes try to send txt messages? The camera is excellent on this phone, almost crystal clear.
upgraded from the K810i and I am very satisfied
I upgraded from the K810i and I am very satisfied, once again it is very user friendly and with all Sony Ericsson's it's easy, reliable and loaded with extra memory and features, quick and compact.
Its sligthly larger than the previous models (K810i & k800) but massive difference in picture and video speed and quality.
Highly recommended for people who need a durable phone with all the facilities such as camera, sms, email & internet plus video, real tunes and ringtones.
buttons need time to get used to and phone can be temperamental
I am really happy with the phone but there are a few downsides to it. The phone occasionally turns itself off for no apparent reason. I found the small buttons a little strange to get use to when I first got the phone but have got used to them now. The camera occasionaly turns itself on in my pocket if it gets knocked.
had alot of Sony Ericsson phones and have had no problems with them
I am very disappointed with this handset, it has three touchscreen buttons and after having the phone only 6 months they have already started to act up.
They sometimes dont work and then even work on their own, I know its hard to believe but whenever I try to do something now the phone automatically either cancels or goes back on its own, it is very frustrating.
I have had alot of Sony Ericsson phones in the past and have had no problems with them so I think its the new touchscreen technology that the problem lies with. Other than that its an ok phone and has a good camera, when I can use it.
will be the last Ericsson that I will be getting, overall very disappointing
The phone looks good at first glance but just 5 months into my contract I am having nothing but problems, starting with the touchscreen not working and then 2 weeks after getting it back the volume went, meaning the phone was away for another 3 weeks.
I have had Sony Ericcson for approx 10 years and always been more than happy with their phones but sadly I think this will be the last one that I will be getting. Overall very disappointing.
an excellent phone and well worth the money
The Sony Ericsson K850i is a good quality phone. The quality of the camera is excellent although you do have to make sure not to get your finger in the way when taking images as this can be easily done.
The phone itself is a good size, it isnt as bulky as previous Sony Ericsson phones. This phone has some excellent features such as video calling, games, external light, video capture, not to mention the quality of the 5.0 megapixel camera.
The keypad can be a little tricky to operate when you first get the phone and the touch screen interface can also be annoying at times, this should not put you off the phone though as you will adjust to it pretty quickly.
I have had this phone for over 4 months now and I think it is an excellent phone and well worth the money.
left out some useful features that appeared in the K800i model
The slot for the charger gives me problems when I'm trying to listen to the radio or music on my phone, the ear piece can be very easy for them to come loose.
They have left out some useful features that appeared in the K800i model like the external play button. I have had alot of problems with the phone freezing on me and switching off, twice it would not come back on. It also doesn't save my calls properly, I sometimes go into it to see what time I phoned certain people only to see it has not saved it.
after years of being a loyal Sony Ericsson fan this has let me down
Although at first glance the phone has great features and is very easy to use I, along with many of my friends, have found it has some sort of manufacturer fault.
The most common being that the screen just goes blank or turns itself off and in the worse cases turns itself of permanantly. After returning it when this happened to me I received a new handset and within a week a new fault had occurred & I wasn't able to access my messages. I could not read, write or send them.
I would definitely say that after years of being a loyal Sony Ericsson fan that this has let me down and I have lost all confidence in them.
dont need to worry about taking my camera along with me anymore
Once again another good phone from Sony Ericsson with all the usual extras. The camera with Cybershot is excellent, I dont need to worry about taking my camera along with me anymore, I took all my holiday photos on it. Pictures were very good quality.
Downside- the touch sensitive buttons on screen can go crazy and are a bit fiddly at first. Overall very good phone though.
Frustrating screen freezes
Its has plenty of features, bluetooth, music, radio etc the pictures are brilliant, very clear and I also like the videos you can record.
The only thing I am finding a problem is that the screen freezes. It seems to do this a lot when I am trying to send a text message, I find it very very frustrating. This is the only problem I have with this phone. I do wonder if there is someone else has the same problem as me.
reasonable looking phone but is getting pretty out dated now
I prefer the earlier model K800i, I find this phone harder to use with having a sensitive touchscreen. Its a reasonable looking phone but is getting pretty out dated now, but is okay for a cheap phone. The camera isnt a brilliant as it is pretty difficult to set up to take a good picture.
I had the perfect mobile phone but in the past 2 months it has broken twice
At first I thought I had the perfect mobile phone although in the past 2 months it has broken twice. The first time the touch screen stopped working and if I pressed 6 the menu option would come up, in some cases it wouldnt let me do anything and would start randomly doing things on its own, then the second time was last week when I was texting the screen died and then wouldnt turn on.
I have been told by the company I bought it from they cant give me a new phone and that I have to wait for it to be fixed.
considering not upgrading as I am so happy with the handset
Compared to the previous Sony Ericsson handsets the K850i is fantasic. Where they went wrong with other handsets they make up here - an internal lense cover for the camera, auto flash and easy to use internet access that is great.
I have heard a lot of people complain that the touch screen freezes a lot, well I agree it can freeze but if your sensible enough not to keep hammering the command button over and over again, the phone will catch up with itself within a few seconds.
I wouldnt recommend to all - I have had mine for almost 12 months now and am considering not upgrading as I am so happy with the handset
problem is that the soft touch buttons sometimes do not respond
I have had the K850i since Feb and it has been a great phone. The only problem is that the soft touch buttons sometimes do not respond, they get stuck at times and sometimes if you press them too many times the phone just crashes out. Overall the phone works well and I think its a good buy.
bought another K850i as I really like the phone
I bought the K850i when it first come out, costing around £320, I think its a great mobile phone, I only had 1 problem with it, one of the touchscreen sensors has since stopped working.
Dont know if anyone else had has this problem. I have since bought a another K850i as I really like the phone, the camera quality is so good and have so far had no problems with this one... fingers crossed...
Sony Ericsson have come close with this one
This mobile phone is almost perfect, it has a 5.0 megapixel camera with flash which takes great photos, in daylight, but not as good at night or in poor lighting conditions.
It has a music player for MP3s which I use, linked up to my bluetooth headphones and sounds great. It has all the other usual features of a phone and is almost there.
What I mean is, it's still slightly too heavy, the music player not slick enough when compared to an iPod and the camera still not as good quality as a digital camera.
So, Sony Ericsson have come close with this one, but we are still not there yet with getting a mobile phone + music player + camera, an all in one device that can also replace your iPod and digital camera, but we are getting closer all the time, this one comes the closest yet.
An excellent mobile phone and would recommend it
I have used Sony mobile phones for approx 6 yrs now and can't recommend them enough. The K850i does not dissapoint, from its 5.0 megapixel camera, upgradeable memory and part touch screen it is a breeze to use especially if you have ever used a Sony mobile previously.
The phone itself looks smart and is much smaller than some of the latest phones such as the iPhone, so fits easily in your pocket, reliability seems to be top class which is something you can usually expect from any Sony product.
The lack of a 'joystick' from previous models I have owned is replaced with a 4 way square button around the no. 2 & 5 buttons and works extremely well. The interface on the phone is the same as other Sony models and is easy to pick up and use straight out of the box if you've ever used a Sony before, even if you haven't the icons are large and clear so it is easy to find your way around.
Overall, I think it is an excellent phone and would recommend it. In fact 3 of my friends also have the same phone!
Good phone, extremely easy to use, disappointed with the camera though
This is a good phone and it is extremely easy to use but once you get alot of things onto it, it can become slow. Even though it boasted a 5.0 megapixel camera it doesn't have that great quality compared to that of the LG Viewty or even the Nokia N95. It has a reasonable battery life as it seems to last about 2-3 days with regular use.
The camera takes absolutely wonderful pictures and is a joy to use
This phone is one of the best I have ever used, there are just so many different features to the phone. The best by far is the camera it takes absolutely wonderful pictures and is a joy to use.
You can push the on/off button on the side of the phone so no need to got through lots of menus and just point and click you can even change modes by a switch on the side so it is so easy to use well done Sony.
Used to always buy Samsung's, but this is far superior
The best phone that I have ever brought, I used to always buy Samsung's, but this is far superior, the camera is amazing on it. It is much easier to use than most other phones that I have had. I would advise anybody to buy this phone, before I had the K810i which was just as good for a lesser price.
Good solid phone but not the most stylish from Sony
A good solid phone but not the most stylish from Sony. It has great advanced features like bluetooth, gprs and of course mobile internet and you can add office programs on to it. The 5.0 megapixel camera is brilliant but the size is a bit big as is the weight in your pocket, but overall a good phone.
Great phone or is it a camera, does both equally well
Great phone or is it a camera, anyway does both jobs equally well. Can be a little frustrating as it always reverts to locking the keypad after not using it for about 10 seconds. Also you can push a wrong button if not careful but these I would say are the only faults. Still camera and video work excellently and I have had loads of fun with it...well happy
I wanted a phone for music, this does the job and much more
I love my Sony Ericsson, it has the features I need on my phone, I wanted one that I could download music onto and have done so many times, it holds lots of my music.
I have a few pictures on my phone that I can print out myself with a printer, which I like very much, I do not have to try and find some other way to get at them, it is quite easy, you had to get something else before to get pictures from your phone or take them into a shop that could do it for you.
Mobile phones have come so far over the last couple of years. I do not use all the features on my phone but I wanted to get my own music onto a phone when I bought this model, but I got more.
I love the look and shape of this phone and the colour, it also sits nicely in the hand, not too small, just right. If you wanted to use it to surf the net you could, but not me. I do that at home on my PC. I would and did recommended this phone to someone else.
Always been very happy with Sony
A nice phone with quite a few features, it looks good with great styling as you would expect with Sony. I have bought a number of Sony products previously and have always been very happy with them so this is why I chose the phone. Quite an easy phone to use as well. An all round good choice.
Camera with flash is top of the range, very pleased
Cracking phone, the camera is top of the range. I'm especially pleased with the flash on it. The button layout takes a bit of time to get used to, but the touchscreen makes it very intuative (just press 'media' for media, for example). Have had issues, the touchscreen has broke, but was sorted (might of just been unlucky!)
Great all round phone, very easy to use, stylish
The K850i from Ericsson is a great all round phone, very easy to use, stylish with all black body and silver buttons. Comes with a great memory card which can hold loads of pictures and music. I've had this phone for a year and I dont even feel like its out of date and am in no rush to buy a new one.
too advanced for me to use and navigate, how wrong I was
As a user of mobile phones for calling and texting only I was a little unsure of the Sony Ericsson K850i. I expected it to be too advanced for me to use and navigate, how wrong I was, this phone has been an absolute must since I began using it 6 months ago.
The camera facility is excellent, the video calling has proved to be amusing if nothing else. I am on this mobile through the 3 network and the skype program that 3 has on their phone is brilliant, I can call my family abroad absolutely FREE.
If you like Sony phones the K850i wont disappoint
If you like Sony phones the K850i wont disappoint, it has the same design layout and shape as other Sony's and therefore is straightforward and easy to use, it is though like most Sony's still brickish in my opinion.
It does though have the added bonus of a touch screen function, that, once you get your head around, works seamlessly. I have had this mobile for about a month now, replacing my old worn K800i. Its a good replacement, similar but better.
The only downside is I have had a few issues with all my pictures vanishing from my album, its happened twice now, both times they reappeared a few days later. A clever trick - The phone even has a sense of humour!
Quite simply a very good quality phone
This is truly a first rate phone, very easy to use, it contains an excellent 5.0 megapixel camera which produces excellent quality pictures. Also has great mp3 player, great sound very easy to download music. It is ideal for every one to use and includes an excellent quality video camera. This is quite simply a very good quality phone that I would recomend to any one.
Easy to use phone with a fantasic camera
This is an easy to use phone with a fantasic camera, the only downside is the touch screen which can sometimes be a hinderence because you touch it by accident. The weight of the phone is light and easily fits into a ladies handbag, it also has a handy wrist strap. The phone also has a great memory and space for an extra memory card.
I would prefer a larger keyboard
Easy to use, clear visual instructions, easy to navigate, only thing that annoys me is when selecting last call you sometimes switch on the Walkman by accident. I would also prefer a larger keyboard as I have sausage fingers. Battery life is now reducing in power it holds, needs a constant top up, lastly the screen isnt very good in bright sunlight.
The best mobile phone I have had yet
The best mobile phone I have had yet and I have been through quite a few in the past 10 years.
The K850i is very simple to use, fantastic features eg. good photo quality, great music features like the mp3, radio etc. Have not had any problems with this phone and I have had it for 18 months.
I am due to get an upgrade with my contract but I am considering keeping this mobile as I find it so easy to use and it still looks modern, small and light weight.
Impressed by the 5 mega pixel camera!
Having owned this phone for a few months now, I am still impressed by the impressive 5megapixel camera, and its ability to cope with more than the average phone-camera, including motion shots.
Excellent semi-touch screen features which have been reliable, but are still active while on a call... So when the phone is moved against the ear, it can easily select menu options which you dont realise until you have finished the call. I have accidentally sent a few blank messages to the first entry in my phone book!
Overall a good phone with good features, especially the camera functions, which also includes video, and shortcut keys to the camera features.
K850i is a great phone especially its 5 megapixel camera feature
I love this phone, its great for people that like to take pictures, as it has 5.0 mega pixels.
It has a touch screen facility once you get use to it - it's a great feature.
The one problem I do have is when you are on speaking on the phone because of the touch screen facility you do tend to touch these keys with your ears - but i'm sure you can stop this but I havent found out how yet.
Overall the K850i is a great phone.
Amazing features including MP3 player
Sony Ericsson's sleek K850i mobile has a fantastic design which I think could rival the Ipod.
It has amazing features and the menus and options are very easy to use.
The best thing about this phone is the Mp3 player by having this I no longer needed an Ipod so it is one less thing to carry around in my pocket.
Touchscreen takes a bit to get used to but I love this phone
I've had my K850i phone for 2 weeks and I'm loving it.
It is my second one, as the first locked up after 10 days, I don't know how common this is, but I'm going to assume that I just 'got a bad one' to start with.
The touch screen takes a little to get used to, but after that - it's great :-)
Great mobile phone for a child
I find this phone is very handy and useful - just right for every day use. Just the right number of functions compact and good for all my needs. Texting is the best I have come across. Screen is very good and clear.
This would be a great phone for a child.
Dissapointed with the Camera
Waited ages to get the phone which when turned up went back within a week. The phone looks great & the touch screen is a cool touch but to be honest im a bit dissapointed with the Camera. The pictures sometimes turn out dark in a perfectly lit room and the buttons are too small.
Design is perfect
This is one of the best phones I have ever seen in my whole life. The design is just perfect. The camera is just too brilliant. I really like Sony Ericsson phones but I think this is one of there best creations. Also the memory is just excellent..
