A robust mobile phone with the basic features
I had this phone for over a year and it never broke despite my clumsiness. For the price it had an ok camera, bluetooth and mp3 player. However it doesn't have enough space, only holding 3-4 songs. There is also no space for a memory card. But for a first time phone, the K510i is great.
Menu accessed by the joystick is clear and easy to navigate
This is my first Sony Ericsson mobile phone, having only used Nokia's previously it took a bit of getting used to.
The menu accessed by the joystick is clear and easy to navigate. Works well with a bluetooth handsfreee kit I bought independently. Had some difficulty setting up the MMS and GPRS for WAP - but that may have been the network and not the phone.
The camera isn't brilliant compared to some phones I've used more recently but it's adequate. However there is no lens guard so it is easy to scratch if you carry your phone in a pocket or bag - or leave it within easy reach of a toddler with access to a sandpit.
Disappointed with layout and design
Very disappointed with layout and design. It has incredibly small keys which make texting quickly difficult, also dont like the position of the volume control or the lack of ringtones on offer.
On the plus side however I like the style very much as well as the compactness and lightweight feel to the handset. The overall impression is of good quality but not enough thought has gone into the smaller details.
Meets my needs, no problems with it at all
I have had this phone since last September and not had any problems with the phone at all. As I am with Orange I have the red handset which I like as its a bit different.
The features of the phone meets my needs, the only thing I don't like is the fact the backing keeps sliding off at times.
light and easy to use for most functions
The K510i from Sony is compact, light and easy to use for most functions. I agree about the fading screen, but I like the size of it in proportion to rest of phone. I do find that the battery needs charging regularly and I wondered if this is to do with having to 're-light' the screen so often, and the screen size?
It is a good phone, lightweight, and easy to use
The only problem with this phone is after you have had it a while, well mine at least, it grows a mind of its own. I often find my phone trying to dial numbers, a selection of numbers will be on the screen, even when my phone has been locked and sat on the counter.
It turns itself off, and even tells me to insert my sim card which I haven't made a habbit of taking out, but apparently my phone thinks I have! I've only had my phone just over a year, long enough to end my contract and go onto pay as you go. All in all, when in working order, it is a good phone, lightweight, and easy to use.
Has screening fading issues other than that good phone
The screen keeps fading off. Some times it does not pick up the signal properly.
The main problem is fading off the screen. Sometimes switching off the mobile and then restarting will help, sometimes it doesn't.
Other than that in my view it is a good phone.
