can be very slow to boot up and randomly turns off
The C510 is a sleek phone that can fit in any pocket of any size or shape. Being very thin it allows for having a lightweight finish.
The phone is overall very good but can be very slow to boot up and randomly turns off and reboots when to many texts are in the inbox. Normally over 1000 causes this to happen. So after a month the inbox needs to be cleared which can become a chore as all the texts and messages will dissappear meaning that any not replied to will be left to the dust.
The buttons can be a little tricky on the keypad
Excellent sized screen although watching any form of video on it can still be hampered by pretty poor quality. The buttons can be a little tricky on the keypad as they are all pretty small. Also, not sure if this is a common problem, but every now and then my screen splits down the centre and reverses on itself so I have to take out the battery and switch back on to rectify. Oh and the headphone socket broke after about a week.
high quality sturdy phone
The Phone is a high quality sturdy phone which over the course of time had taken quite a battering and yet still survives. It's been drowned, crushed and beaten yet still continues to work flawlessly.
Sure, it doesn't have high spec features such as GPS and is not a particularly stylish phone, however you have the guarantee that when you switch it on it will work effortlessly everytime with ease and simplicity.
Cyber-shot camera to take great pictures
The Sony Ericsson C510 is a great looking phone. Cyber-shot camera to take great pictures with a 3.2 mega pixels, MP3 player and has lots of memory. The only fault I would give it that it scratches easily in black but my husband got it in silver and it doesn't look like there's a scrath on it and hes had his for ages! Great little phone.

Great looking phone with decent amount of features
Great looking phone with decent amount of features for a very good price. Internet access is pretty fast and also comes with a decent camera. MP3 capabilities are decent too and I have downloaded loads of tunes, with plenty of memory still available. Great phone.
My C510 is very slow
Yes, the C510 is good in all features. But I have had a lot of bitter experience with this phone. My C510 is very slow and when I talk more than 3 or 4 minutes the set will heat up. The colour of the panel and key faded within 3 months. I purchased this phone 6 months back and visited the Sony Ericsson service centre 4 times due to the complaints caused from this phone.
the menus are well thought out and easy to navigate
This is a great phone for those who cannot afford (or do not want to use) a smartphone. The camera on the C510 is an excellent 3.2 megapixels and it has many other useful functions. Although the buttons on the C510 are quite small this does not effect the usability and the menus are well thought out and easy to navigate. Overall, this is an excellent phone.

Easy call making and text messaging
Excellent mobile by Sony Ericsson. It has everything you need in a phone. Easy call making and text messaging. It doesnt have a touch screen which is why I chose it. Easy access to minutes used which helps me keep track of my bill. The only downfall is that the three network does not have a strong signal in all areas.
camera lense covered so that you dont scratch or break
Good overall design with the camera lense covered so that you dont scratch or break the lense. On previous model I had that was a Sony Ericsson this was not the case and caused problems. Internet can be used on the phone but takes time and the usability of the phone for this isn't perfect. Good for other functions though.
Great design, an improvement on past models, I fully recommend it
After having several Sony Ericsson mobiles I can say this is the best so far. Great design, an improvement on past models, especially the shutter slide for 3.2 megapixel camera, unlike past models it stays firmly shut until you manually push it open, this saves runnning down your battery.
The camera has the cybershot function and photos are crisp and clear. A face recognition system focuses on the individual resulting in great shots. The mobile is sturdy without compromising style and is very user friendly. This is displayed with the text facility which is so easy I can do it with my eyes shut, far better than rival phones.
It has 3G and accessing the net is simple and fast, battery life is decent, but with all mobiles using the video function does drain it rapidly. All calls can be heard clearly and it is not at all heavy, quite compact for your pocket. I fully recommend it

if you've got huge meaty hands then this might not be the phone for you
Visually the phone is relatively unremarkable, the black variant I reviewed has Sony's standard dark sleek looks but with silver and blue flashes on the sides. There is nothing to fall out with here. It's 12.5mm thin so not a pocket destroyer by any means, equally it weighs less than 100g so won't be causing you to waddle in circles if you put it in your pocket
The phone has a large and clear 2.2" screen which comes in handy for it's Internet wizardry (mentioned later) and auto rotates when you turn the phone from portrait to landscape in camera or media modes. The camera lens is protected with a slider panel too which both looks good and works well activating the 3.2 MP camera after a short (but noticeable delay).
The camera is pretty good for a mobile phone, features a LED flash, lens cover and smile detection setting so that it releases the shutter when it recognises your subjects pearly whites. Also when you expose the lens and enter camera mode a line of dedicated blue buttons light up giving you direct access to the major options and shutter release. It is however always going to be just a mobile phone camera - there is a pretty noticeable shutter lag and unless you've got a steady hand it's not difficult to blur a picture.
The other main feature is HSDPA Internet that perfectly compliments the large clear screen. The phone comes bundled with Facebook and Windows Live messenger software that connects and works easily.
Being a Sony the interface is clear, prettily themed and easily navigated around. The battery life is also very good and it phone comes with a Sony USB cable for data transfer.
On the downside the keyboard is ever so slightly fiddly and the accept/ end call buttons are set in a semicircular mount in between the two screen hot keys which makes it easy at first to press the wrong button when navigating. You do get used to this within a few days but if you've got huge meaty hands then this might not be the phone for you.
Pros: Smart design, good Internet functionality, good battery life, slim form factor
Cons: Camera isn't particularly fast, keyboard is a mite fiddly, no 3.5mm headphone jack and the supplied phones are rubbish!
main issues are the buttons are tricky and small to use
The phone looks sleek and cool, the main issues are the buttons are tricky and small to use and the camera slide is poor quality. After having a K810i the technology is the same but the looks are greater, still a Sony Ericsson fan. Would recommend as a first phone
a good phone without being stupidly flashy
This is the best phone I've ever owned. I like simple phones, but they still must have all the features I want. The phone ticks most of the boxes: 3G, 3.2MP camera, radio, media player, notes.
However on the downside, as with most Sony Ericsson there is no 3.5mm jack, instead an annoying Sony Ericsson one. Instead of microSD cards it supports micro M2 cards which are more expensive.
Overall a good phone without being stupidly flashy.

I do recommend it to the small fingered
This phone is meant to be the poor man's 3G video phone. In that respect it does live up to its job.
I got this phone free on contract with Orange. But after two days it crashed and wouldn't start up so I had to reinstall the phone's firmware.
After this hickup the phone has worked perfectly and does everything I throw at it. Be warned though, if you have massive fingers it may be a bit hard to type as the keys are very small.
The camera is pretty good with a good flash. But I do wish I could take a photo with the forward facing camera (used for video calling) but either it doesn't allow this or I can't find the option.
Websites perform very well on the phone's in-built web browser, much better than when viewed through the opera mini browser. Overall it's a very good phone full of features and I do recommend it to the small fingered.
clarity of the screen and sound rival that of any other smart phone
The design of this little gem is thoroughly well thought out, the design team are ingenious. The clarity of the screen and sound rival that of any other smart phone. I would certainly suggest even insist that anyone who prides the selves on purchasing all the latest technology go out a buy this phone.
