The handset is available in an 8GB or 16GB version which both can be expanded with further memory. camera is cracking, great shots - love panoramic

I have nothing negative to say about this phone, the camera is cracking, great shots - love panoramic feature! Memory space is brilliant room for everything. The style is simple, size is a bit large but understandable considering how much memory and how good the camera is.

The only thing I would say is - I have had problems with the phone battery lasting only 1 day - this has been resolved by handset reset, now lasts the norm 2-3 days.

paint has scratched off the outside so the top half is now silver

This phone has broke on me twice, the battery has ran out and its just never come back on. The camera although 8megapixel is very poor quality, most of my pictures are fuzzy, I think party due to the phone taking five minutes to actually capture one picture.

The paint has scratched off the outside so the top half of my phone is now silver not black, which I think is also poor! I believe they put this phone together quickly without much thought so they could be the first to have an 8mp camera.

Great for photos! Generally very pleased

The i8510 is a great phone which I use a lot for photos in the course of my job and it scores very highly in this regard, with many creative options available.

Huge memory (I got a 16gb plus 8gb card!) which also means I am able to store thousands of music tracks and dozens of full length films on it. Battery usage is an issue but simply adding an easily obtainable program cured this for me, although I do keep a spare battery on me most days.

I loaded Garmin XT satnav on it too which gives good results with the large screen. Video sound playback has issues, as does the charging jack (had 2 i8510's now both suffered this problem) although I think with a little more careful handling this may not be a problem for others.

I love the scroll pad particularly when browsing the net, and its sensitivity can be set to your own preference which is handy. Would like to have seen voice dialing and screensaver functions on this phone but that apart I am generally very pleased with it.

to be fair it hits the mark every time

Top notch phone. I got this particular model for organisation, web, GPS and camera capabilites and to be fair it hits the mark every time. Syncing with the PC is a breeze and the photo quality is fantastic (OK not a £1000 SLR but then it's not supposed to be!).

Web navigation is a real treat as are the many other functions that come as standard with the phone. Only complaint is getting to some of the menu items takes a while!

looked like it was everything I needed from a phone

At first glance the i8510 looked like it was everything I needed from a phone. A specification that boasted 8mpx camera, wifi, bluetooth alongside a dozen other impressive characteristics.

And for the first 20 minutes, it was. However, upon trying to take my first photo I was presented with blurry, out of focus, off colour photos that took up to 10 seconds to capture and due to a phone delay, 20 seconds to delete. I tried changing the white balance from auto to every available setting, and tried to change the scene from auto to everything from flourescent to nightlight. But nothing would allow me to take a quality photo. I engaged the facial recognician tool- but instead of enhancing the features of my subjects- it just took even longer for my photos to capture. Not good.

It was over the next week or so, that I realised how often I was being forced to charge my i8510. Even if it was only being used for a few text messages a day the phone was requiring a full charging almost every other day without fail, and god forbid I were to play music for 30 minutes or make a call! Not good.

As I continued using the phone I noticed delays in the menu function (especially if you use a downloaded theme), and, if all this was not enough to cope with- last week (at just 10 weeks old) the "select" and "answer" buttons on my phone ceased to function, and the screen started to black out for minutes at a time. Not good.

So, my i8510 has been sent away to be replaced (with all my irretrievable data, so important fuzzy photos on it, soon to be gone forever by, hopefully, a working replacement.

But considering the number of functions they tried to squeeze into this "smartphone" I am not hopeful for my next attempt with this particular model. ahem...Not good...

a slow response when using the simplest of applications

With the same operating system as the N95 but a sleeker and more modern look, as would be expected from a Samsung product, you would imagine this handset to have rid itself of the usual problematic N95 issues. However this doesnt appear to be, a slow response when using the simplest of applications remains and poor battery life.

Whilst the features of the i8510 are fantastic, including the 8MP camera, and the new design and build quality surpass that of the N95, the fact remains that the handset is bigger, heavier and slower but only a slightly improved version.

has an amazing 8.0 megapixel camera, 2 free games and sat nav

I like using the wifi internet on this phone though wish it could be faster at times, I have to delete the cookies and cache reguarly. It has an 8GB memory which is good for storage. Also has an amazing 8.0 megapixel camera, 2 free games and sat nav. I would recommend this phone very much.
