Decent phone, small but practical and functional
I bought this mobile 6 months ago to replace a beaten and battered Nokia N91 as I thought the sleek design and simplicity of use made for a good buy.
After a few weeks I noticed that I had the problem of the phone calling or sending messages to my contacts or the most recent number on call display due to the touch sensitive buttons just below the screen. I also noticed that when making or recieving a call inside or in a crowded place the reception of the call wasn't very good with constant crackling and loss of signal if moved in certain ways(although this may have just been a problem with my network provider).
Apart from these problems this phone is still nicely designed and compact enough to fit in a pocket without any damage being done to it from bumping against anything. Overall this is a decent phone for someone who is looking for something small but practical and functional.
The phone is extremely easy to use and find what you want
I love this phone, although I have to say it is my third one. My first one died suddenly one day and would not turn back on, the second one sent to me would not charge but so far third time lucky.
The phone is extremely easy to use and find what you want with one button access to your address book, texting and camera. My only bugbear with the phone is how long it actually takes to process a photo once the button has been pushed - which is not great when you have got kids as they have moved by the time the photo is saved onto the screen.
love this phone. It's stylish and easy to use
I love this phone. It's stylish and easy to use. It has applications that I regularly use, however I feel these could be updated now with features such as sattellite navigation etc. The only thing that I would change about the design is the two sensory touch buttons on the front of the phone.
Text function is a little long winded at first
Follows the similar functionality as other models with a slide design that is sturdy to use. The soft keys are quite sensitive and have often called someone accidentally. Menu is easy to use. Text function is a little long winded at first. Good quality camera.
the phone has been utterly reliable
I have had this phone for over a year. Apart from needing a new battery (which was replaced free of charge under warranty) the phone has been utterly reliable.
It has all the features one would want and has relatively low battery consumption - I only charge it up once a week. Despite dropping the phone and leaving it outdoors in the rain it still goes on and on. I would recommend this phone as either a new or secondhand buy.
Aesthetically pleasing however not very robust
Aesthetically pleasing however not very robust, had to send the phone back 4 times as due to the slide feature the back came loose causing a disconnection to the sound which meant I was unable to hear people when calling or being called. Also a tendancy to crash in the middle of writing texts and turn itself off.
The camera has broke, the call function has broke
An excellent phone product wise, but the reliability of the phone is terrible. The camera has broke, the call function has broke, and numerous keys no longer work. Would never buy a Samsung again because of this poor reliability, which is a shame becuase other than that it is a very nice phone.
"cancel" button is a touch sensitive and too close to numbers
The "cancel" button is a touch sensitive and too close to numbers, I often accidentally brush the "cancel" button deleting the text message I'm writing.
Other than that, the phone is quite good, generally quick to boot up from power, menus easily navigated, ability to add you own music via PC software is helpful especially if you want something different. I dont know what the tones are like I never got that far. Quite sturdy too, think i've dropped it a few times now and no sign of damage, scratch resistant, screen is durable too.
only missing fm radio for my taste
Great phone, good camera and sound. Only difficulty is with the touch screen buttons which are very sensitive and can delete texts without meaning to.
Really big screen which makes viewing easy. A good size and very thin so can go in back pocket and not bulky. Have used all facilities on it - only missing fm radio for my taste. Great phone and would definitely have it again.
I am on my 3rd handset going onto my 4th
I have had more trouble with this phone than you can imagine, I am on my 3rd handset going onto my 4th. They have all broke due to different reasons, internal speaker broke, touchscreen stopped responding and now it randomly turns on and off and says insert sim card. I would never suggest to anyone to get this handset.
this phone just feels like a dream and looks the part too
Great phone with a slim feel to it, this phone just feels like a dream and looks the part too. Many features keep this phone up there with the latest slim phones out there. Features like bluetooth and a multimediaplayer keep you smiley and busy on those long train journeys.
The only downside seems to oddly be the touch buttons that are new and edgy but have led to calling people at odd hours by mistake here and there which is a hard one to explain to the boss or ex girlfriend.
Overall this phone is truly a great phone.
touch buttons lost their appeal, far too sensitive
Bought this phone back in January. Was taken in with the touch buttons and the slimness of the phone in comparison to others on the market.
However, it is now September, and the touch buttons have rapidly lost their appeal, especially as they are so sensitive that even hovering slightly over them for an instant can cancel the operation you are performing, which is horrendously annoying.
The plus points are a good music player and camera, good slider, and easy to navigate menus. I, however, have lost my patience with it and just swapped to a G600.
All the technology I require on a phone with a 3.2 megapixal camera
Just purchased as birthday present. Very impressed. All the technology and gizmos I require on a phone with a 3.2 megapixal camera for just £80 from Carphone Warehouse and open to all networks. Only drawback is that battery life seems quite limited especially when using Bluetooth feature.
thinnest phone I have ever seen, lightweight and fits in your pocket perfectly
Great looking phone however the large screen is extremely vulnerable to scratches therefore I suggest you get a screen protector. It has a nice menu and the tactile buttons look great but are sometimes a bit fiddly and could be easier to use. Apart from that it is a great looking phone with lots of features. It is the thinnest phone I have ever seen, lightweight and fits in your pocket perfectly.
super short battery life and sensitive touchscreen design
Very disappointed with this phone. Bought it for my dad as a present and he gave it away after 2 months, mainly because of the super short battery life and sensitive touchscreen design.
You could easily touch the button by mistake to do a lot of things that you didn't meant to. I would say it's the last choice for a businessman because you probably need another 2 extra batteries in your pocket for a day.
6 months now and I am still finding new things about it
This is the best phone that I have used. It took a little time to get used to but once I did it became very easy to use. I also inserted a memory card which allows me to use the phone even more. The size of the phone is also perfect for me with its slimline features, its easier to fit into my pocket. I have had the phone for about 6 months now and I am still finding new things about it.
brilliant little phone packed with features, extra memory required though
This is a brilliant little phone. The design is excellent, the phone is really quite rugged and will take a knock or two but not a dip into tea. The keys lock when the slider is closed so no accidental calls.
For such a small handset it is packed with features including the usual camera and MP3 player though internal memory is quite small and only allows about twelve tracks, extra memory can be added.
Other features include a stopwatch and a converter. The only drawback is that it has a weak signal where other phones wouldnt. I would definetly get this phone again.
had this phone for nearly a year now and I am very pleased with it
I have had this phone for nearly a year now and I am very pleased with it. The touch buttons on the front do take some getting used to but they work fine.
The quality of the camera is good but it is slow. The camera takes a few seconds to focus and take the picture which usually means subjects have moved.
Battery life is alright, I would prefer it to last a bit longer when I am using the MP3 player.
Because of the above, a memory card is a must and I need to set the camera to save to the memory card.
The downside of this is when looking at pictures I am unable to scroll through the images. Instead I have to open and close them individually. The images stored on the phone can be scrolled through but with very limited space this is not practical.
calls, sending messages and phone that looks good, this one's fine
Overall a pretty good phone. Looks nice and a friend with a matching one says it doubles up as a handy mirror. Fairly easy to use but a few minor problems - if you set the alarm bizarrely the only setting it seems to save for future use is alarm name - it doesn't save the alarm time, alarm tone or volume so you have to completely reset it every single time you want to use it.
Also it's quite easy to accidentally phone someone when you're writing a message, or to accidentally delete the whole message when you only wanted to get rid of a word or two. There have been a couple of occasions when it's given up working, but turning it off and on again, though rather annoying, normally sorts it out.
If you're planning to use the camera much I wouldn't particularly recommend it as it's a bit fiddly, but if you just want a phone that you can call people with, send messages and that looks good, this one's fine. It looks much better than my last phone and fits handily in bags/pockets, but I probably wouldn't get it again as I'd prefer one with a longer battery life. Otherwise, completely happy with it!
a great 3.2 megapixels so photo quality is excellent
The Samsung U600 is a great phone, it is lightweight, the top bit is a touchscreen which makes it that extra bit more special.
It also has a superb quality camera, a great 3.2 megapixels so photo quality is excellent, it also benifits from the usb cable so you can connect it to the computer and upload the phone stuff to the computer and vice versa, personally I loved the phone.
Don't judge a mobile phone by its cover
I absolutely loved the look of this phone. Its gorgeous, its extra slim for a slide phone and its got a big screen. A very sexy phone. I bought it however and using it was a different story.
The 'call' and 'hangup' buttons are touch buttons, not press, and they are either extremely sensitive or the opposite, you can adjust the sensitivity from 1-3 but they just wouldnt work for me. Typing a text was a nightmare, it took me 5-7 touches of the 'cancel' button to erase just one letter, the phone kept calling all my missed calls when all I wanted to do was look at them.
The camera I thought was going to be really good as it was 2.0 megapixels more than my current phone (Nokia 6320) but it was extremely slow, actually taking the picture after I had pressed the button so you had to hold it in place for about 5 seconds after. It did take a decent photo but my old phone was just as good and took it in a 10th of the time.
I've never had a Samsung phone before and I can say now, I probably wont have one again. The phone faces are very stylish, the best looking on the shelf in my opinion but the menus on the phones and features are not as good as any other phone I have had or tried.
I was so gutted that I had to send it back as I was so excited about getting it but hey, I learnt not to judge a phone by its cover.
A good high specification mobile phone, keypad can be sensitive though
Although a nice looking phone I found the touch sensitive buttons a nightmare. When you are texting and hit a button by mistake you can end up calling someone.
Its a high spec mobile phone though, if you are willing to forgo the potential issues with the buttons. The camera takes good pictures and its easy to set up with your computer.
People said sensitive buttons were hard to use, but I got on with them fine
This phone is sleek and sophisticated, really nice to look at and fits into pockets easily for carrying around, you hardly know its even there.
I had heard before I bought it that the touch sensitive buttons were hard to use but I got on with them fine and you get used to them really quickly so no problems there.
Overall a great phone, the only downside is that your message alert can only be either a tone or vibrate, not both which seems odd as the ringtone can be and also I have found that my battery life is not very long, about 3 days (or even 2 if used frequently).
Useful features that were missing from previous models
This is an incredibly stylish looking phone, it is small, especially in depth and therefore easily fits in the pocket without any unsightly bulging. The menu is easy to use, especially if you are used to Samsung's. However there are still a number of new useful features that were missing from previous models, the camera is also pretty decent.
Had the phone for 12 months now and I am definitely ready for a change
I chose the U600 from Samsung due to the features on offer, I was particularly attracted to the 3.2 megapixel camera and the fact that the phone could play both MP3 music and the radio.
However, what you don't realise until you get the phone is that the camera takes a good few seconds to take a photograph, by which time the subject has usually wondered off, it is also only any good for close up photographs.
The radio, you can only use this if you have the hands free headphones plugged in, personally I'm far too dis-organised to keep hold of those, I lost them within the first couple of days so I've never used the radio.
However, all this aside, the main reason why I am dissatisfied with the phone is the fact that when I am texting, the phone will turn itself off half way through the text. It then does the same thing again everytime you use the space key on a text.
Overall, I would not recommend this phone, the excellent sounding features are virtually unusable, and for basic functions like texting the phone is equally useless. I have had the phone for about 12 months now and I am definitely ready for a change.
Phone repaired three times now and the problem still persists
This phone was exactly what I wanted, a sleek slim design that would fit nicely in my pocket and provide good (though not the best) features... Initially I was happy, but it soon started to freeze while I texted people, infrequently at first but the problem got much worse.
I have had the phone repaired three times now and the problem still persists. While this would not ordinarily be a huge problem, the crappy service provider I am with seem to be reluctant to replace it. Furthermore, I know of three other people with this phone who have all had the same problem...In short, avoid this phone unless you like having a replacement every few months!
Screen scratches really badly, so be careful with things in your pocket
I have had to send the phone for repair once, the screen went upside down and started to go fuzzy, a new screen was fitted and returned with all data.
Apart from the paint coming off the top it has been a nice little phone. The screen scratches really badly as well so be careful with things in your pocket.
Very lightweight, strong case with a good size screen, very reliable
Best phone I have ever owned, its so easy to use and has plenty of features. Very lightweight, strong case with a good size screen, very reliable overall.
The phone is also very good for reception in nearly all the areas I have used it. Would highly recommend this phone or maybe the new version will be even better. A very good value for money phone thats totaly reliable and simple to use.
Very good handset and I am very pleased with it
Very good handset and I am very pleased with it, I have had this handset since October and I haven't got bored with it yet. Although the only bad thing about it is that if you drop the phone the paint comes off it very easily. The memory on the phone is excellent , although I find that the camera isn't as good.
Good features, large screen, easy to use and very quick to pick up
Good Phone with good features, large screen, easy to use and very quick to pick up, may take a little longer to get used to the touch screen buttons on the front. Slide function is also good and the expanable memory is very useful especially for the mp3 features on the phone. Camera is 3.2 MP which is now common on most phones.
One of the slimmest slider phone's on the market
Anyone who is considering buying this phone, I strongly recommend it. It's slim , sleek, stylish, small and lightweight. It is packed with features such as bluetooth, radio, MP3 player, camera and internet. This phone is extremely user friendly, and is one of the slimmest slider phone's on the market.
Handsfree head phones can be uncomfortable if using them for a long time
Very nice looking mobile phone but difficult to use and too easy to knock the wrong keys, takes time to get used too.
It has a very good camera, very good MP3 player but not as easy to access as the Walkman mobile phone, also the handsfree head phones can be uncomfortable if using them for a long time.
Large screen also makes for easier viewing
This is a slim, attractive phone, easy to use, sticking with the simular Samsung menu used in older models which I find easy to use. Very colourful, and the different colours for each menu function is great.
I like the design and the touchscreen was a feature I looked for in a phone, the large screen also makes for easier viewing.
The only slight fault I find with this mobile is in the camera use, on a number of phones it's one touch of a button to get into the camera and back out again. I can't seem to do this, its fine to access but you cant just hit the back button on your phone like on other functions, you have to acess the menu function using the touchscreen and exit is the last option, picky, perhaps but I find it much easier that way.
Something I have not had on other phones is multiple sending options, this is another good point for the U600, being able to send out the same messages as many times as you like.
sure better phones have been released in past year
Whilst a nice, neat phone, it is now a little dated, it is easy to use and straightforward and the touch-button feature is rather cool but can be a little irritating if you are in a hurry or trying to remember a number to type in quickly.
Even with my (female) fingers, I sometimes have to take 3 attempts if I am going too quickly. Overall, nice phone with a good camera and features but I am sure better phones have been released in past year.
Downside is the slow shutter speed making photos sometimes appear blurry
The U600 from Samsung is overall a good phone, the battery life is standard and the features are great for a standard mobile phone user with a nice camera, the only downside is the slow shutter speed making photos sometimes appear blurry.
The main thing that I dont like about this phone is the annoying touch buttons, although they look nice it is easy to accidentally touch them while texting etc and can end up deleting your message.
The phone is very light and slim which is nice. So I would give this phone 4/5 overall as long as your ok with touch buttons otherwise I wouldnt recommend.
Worries have been unfounded as the phone is pretty robust
Had the Samsung U600 since July 2007, during this time it has proved very reliable. I was a little worried about whether the large sceen display would last the course of time bearing in mind the rough treatment my phone sometimes receives. My worries have been unfounded as the phone is pretty robust.
Features on the phone are great. Battery life is still good - as long as I remember to turn off the bluetooth when I'm not using it. Camera is quite good too, overall it's a pretty good handset.
there is not anything I like about this handset
The keypad is difficult to use (sticks easily), I'm unable to use my predictive text as it freezes & crashes my phone, I have been told by my provider this is due to a software fault which Samsung are aware. (but will not replace my phone).
I have problems with the device sending partial texts & failure to send texts, the signal is poor and goes out of service alot. (Never been a problem with previous handsets). Friends handsets have the same problems so this is not just a fault with mine, I have always used Sony Ericssons prior to trying this phone and cannot wait for my contract to expire so that I can go back to purchasing another one. I'm afraid there is not anything I like about this handset.
Needed to read the booklet as I didn't find it quite as intuitive
The U600 from Samsung is slim, light and looks pretty smart, it has a good camera & video function.
The touch screen is very sensitive, when I first got the phone I struggled a bit as it wasn't like my previous phones even though they had been Samsungs.
This was one phone I needed to read the booklet for as I didn't find it quite as intuitive. My screen is already scartched and it is only a couple of months old so not sure what state it will be in by the end of contract.
extremely easy to use, good looking mobile phone
The Samsung U600 is an extremely easy to use, good looking mobile phone. It is light and super slim, I have had mine for 10 months and have not had any problems apart from that the touch screen buttons are very sensitive which is sometimes annoying.
A very simple phone to use, I love it
Ok, so it's my first 3G phone after years of using an old brick but I love this phone. I was initially wary of getting one and whether I would actually use it much and whether I'd find it difficult.
A very simple phone to use, and it looks really good also. The camera's pretty good as well, although the only bad bit is that there's a bit of a delay from pressing the button to the photo coming out, otherwise it's great
Looks great and has everything you need
Top phone, looks great and has everything you need, could perhaps do with more memory if you want to store lots of songs or videos on there but that is easily solved by purchasing a Micro CD card which costs next to nothing anyway. The 3.2 mega pixel camera is also excellent for those nights out when you dont want to take you digital camera out!
Touch buttons on the front are the most annoying thing on earth
I love the look of my Samsung U600 and the features available on the camera are great (once you figure out how to use them!).
However the feather touch buttons on the front are the most annoying thing on earth! You can spend ages writing a text and then accidently catch one of them and it will wipe your whole text message grrrr.
My friend had one and the wire linking the sliding screen broke, apparently it is quite a common fault.
I love the look of this phone but I am fed up of accidently deleting things or calling people because I have brushed one of the buttons, they are too sensitive and make this phone very annoying, definately would not buy another phone like this.
Encountered no problems with the touch screen sensitivity
I read many reviews before I bought the Samsung U600 last year, mainly slating its touch sensitivity. I found the phone simple to use, nice design and encountered no problems with the touch screen sensitivity. Sadly lost this phone recently, but would certainly recommend it.
Battery life about average but charges up v.quickly
The U600 is a nice looking phone that is slim line and comes in a varity of colours, lightweight and relavitely easy to use.
Battery life about average but charges up v.quickly, good picture quality from the Camera. However some parts of the phone poor quality, the back cover on mine broke within 2 months for example.
The Samsung U600 offers what all chic phone users need in a phone
Slim, slick and the eptimoe of sophistication. The Samsung U600 offers what all chic phone users need in a phone.
Easy to use, Easy to call, and Easy to play, this phone has all the latest modern day features. In my opinion the size is the ultimate perfection, the ringtones not too annoying and its overall use, well not bad at all.
The pictures and video are good quality, with the capbilities to zoom in, to cut and paste, and even make your picture black and white.
Overall a good performance by Samsung. My only let down? Well I am not sure how much I like the touch pad keys. However the phone is not heavily reliant on touch and you do get used to using them.
Would not recommend if after an easy to use mobile
The U600 was he first Samsung phone I used.
This phone is difficult to text on due to how sensitive the keys.
The memory size on the Samsung U600 is not very good either meaning it does not hold many ring tones or pictures.
If your someone who needs an easy to use mobile phone I would not recomend this phone.
Good phone though first one was dodgy but got it changed
The phone overall is excellent.
I had only one problem with the phone when I first got it. When I was writing out a text it froze and reset itself. However I took my phone back to carphone warehouse and they replaced it with no problems and the new one is fine.
The only thing I wish the phone would have is more themes or the option to have my own themes.
Overall good phone.
Touch sensitive can cause problems otherwise not bad
The Samsung U600 is not a bad phone but the touch sensitive buttons can cause problems. It is too easy to start dialling someone when you dont want to.
Also the slider mechanism works loose and becomes sloppy and the screen is easily cracked. Otherwise it's not too bad.
Nice looking and easy to use, but had problems
The phone itself is nice looking and easy to use, although I have had a couple of problems with it: (1) If I use predictive text on it, then after writing a few words the phone normally freezes, and then you have to take the battery out and start again. This has meant that I now don't use predictive text, and the phone has been fine. I presume that there was a bug in the phone software that made this happen. I didn't send the phone to get fixed, because I saw no point now being used to manual texting; (2) The screen has cracked, and did so within a few weeks of getting the phone. This has also happened to my friend's phone which is the same make.
Apart from those problems I find that it is a good phone to use and look at.
Not a bad effort from Samsung
Don't get me wrong this isn't a bad looking mobile phone but it just seems to have a few glitches which after a while you can get used to but really you shouldnt have to with your phone these days. This phone is unbelievably thin. Possibly the slimmest mobile phone on the market?
The touch sensitive buttons though get on my nerves a bit. Don't think they really got this right???
Its not a bad phone and the 3.2 megapixel photo camera is pretty good but there is a delay on taking snaps so don't expect to catch things. Its great for getting pose photos though.
Not a bad effort from Samsung but I would expect any future models to have ironed out the errors of this phone. Its why ive only given the u600 4 stars instead of 5.
