Samsung S8500 Wave Reviews

The Samsung S8500 Wave is the first device from Samsung running on their new Bada operating system. This superb device brings all the top end features you could want in a modern smartphone, all gloriously presented on a high quality 3.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display. The TouchWiz 3.0 UI overlays the Bada OS, delivering a simple way to navigate through the menu system. The S8500 Wave has a high quality 5.0 Megapixel camera with support for geotagging, face and smile detection, plus high definition video recording at 30 fps. The Wave delivers HSDPA support with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n plus a GPS receiver with Google Maps 3.0 pre installed. The built in media player supports a variety of formats, and there is also a stereo FM radio with FM recording facility.

I'm afraid the phone has to go back.
I just got this phone today and I am mortified to discover that not only does the GPS not work on the S8500 Wave, but that it is a common problem with this phone that Samsung don't seem bothered about. Given GPS navigation was one of the key selling points for me, I'm afraid the phone has to go back.
A great shame, since it seems in most other respects to be a really great phone. One other criticism I would make is that, strangely, it is not possible to temporarily disconnect from a wireless AP without having to enter the password again (a real pain with a strong password) when you want to re-connect to it.
GPS is a real pain!
I love the phone but the GPS is a real pain! I am already on a replacement phone after a week because the GPS on the first one wouldn't connect properly.
The second one is a bit better but still patchy. Yesterday I drove 100 miles and the GPS directions (using Route 66) were excellent. Today I can't even get a connection.
I find it annoying that you have to close "all running apps" when connecting to the pc using USB but it's not always clear what apps are running. I just turn the phone off and on again but this shouldn't be necessary. These are minor things that, hopefully, Samsung will sort out through software updates.
fantastically beautiful screen resolution
Just got this phone on contract from Virgin yesterday and so far it has been amazing. The phone is a bit difficult to use at first but after couple of hours playing about its easy.
The first thing that you will notice when you first switch it on is the fantastically beautiful screen resolution which matches the HTC desire and is far better than the iPhone 3gs (i have owned both).
The internet is a touch slow to load compared to the iPhone 3gs but nowhere near as slow as the Nokia X6. It is very easy to sync all your contacts with Facebook, Twitter etc. Have read some reviews that have said this phone freezes but I have not had this problem as yet

Mobile phones are constantly being updated in a constantly evolving industry with huge demands. Where camera phones go up by the megapixel on a monthly basis and the next big feature just around the corner, it certainly can be confusing finding the right mobile phone.
Most handsets now could be classed as 'smart phones' based on where mobile phones were a few years ago with the current crop of buzz words - 3G, HSPDA, megapixel, social networking, apps, A-GPS and more. Thats why reading impartial user reviews is the best way of deciding what phone to buy next!
