promised to be the master of picture taking
I came from a jack-of-all-trades phone, the Nokia95, and was looking for another jack that's also a master of something. So I chose the Pixon12 that promised to be the master of picture taking.
Well, I am actually happy with it, just. You see, those 12mp pictures aren't all that good. Especially when you look at them on a screen that's bigger than the phone's, eg my computer at home. So many pics turn out to be blurred.
Yeah, I can imagine that some of you'd be happy to just view your photos on the handset. But even here, Samsung have designed more frustration, if you don't hold your phone absolutely level, in either upright or sideways position, then the picture will disappear, sliding or scrolling away like in a superfast slide show. And you can't adjust this feature nor turn it off. I know, I asked and Samsung told me so.
So, the camera's a disappointment (no better than N95). The rest is ok-ish but with lots of little, yet very annoying niggles.
For example, although you can write memos, don't expect to compile your shopping list. After only 100 characters it refuses any further keystrokes, argh! I shall show you with this very sentence how short a memo you can write that uses up all 100 charact
I won't bore you with more examples that made me want to throw the handset against a stone wall.
You see, I think I'm over my disappointments now, have accepted it's shortcomings and am reasonably happy with it (just as well, because my contract's still well over a year to go!).
My advice to you is just this, for an outstanding mobile, look elsewhere. However, if you can accept the Pixon12 as a brave attempt at something new (camera) that's actually less, or in fact if you would like a really nice average mobile then buy this one, but only if you can find a good deal!
camera is an excellent feature as it is 12 megapixels
This mobile phone has a simple to use and easy menu, the menu is set on three different screens. As its a touch screen phone you use your finger to slide across to the next part of the menu.
The camera is an excellent feature as it is 12 megapixels so I believe that you can print a photo to A3 size. When taking a photo they save to the phone but you can easily move them to the SD memory card. You can save your photos into different folders if you wish. The internet is also avaliable on this phone. Texting is simple and also making call and accessing your phone book.
Overall this is a brilliant phone and simple to use but the only thing what you don't get with the phone is pen for the touch screen. I have no problems with the phone not having one but if you do want one then you may be able to buy one separate.
a very decent camera phone but could be improved in certain areas
A very good touchscreen interface phone that is relatively small in size but big on features. The 12 MP camera can take exceptional photos, especially in poorer lighting conditions, but some pictures are not so good, in bright sunlight for instance. The SmartAuto function for photos could be better.
Widgets are useful but there is a very limited number available - not a patch on phones using Apps stores.
Overall a very decent camera phone but could be improved in certain areas.
best camera phone I have ever used
This is best camera phone I have ever used and the photos are comparable with a compact digital camera, only losing out on optical zoom. Besides fully loaded with features, the battery was above average which is very significant as most users do not want to waste time charging it often.
