ideal for the professional business person
One of the most complete phones around with all you need in one machine, this is great as I travel away alot and this phone has it all, well worth a look and ideal for the professional business person.
Taking the phone on holiday was a good idea as I had instant contact with great reception always on the go. I believe this is one of the best phones for clear reception I have ever had at any time.
So if a complete package is what you are after then this is the way ahead for you all. Never get bored with all the applications on this fun packed little gadget.
A comprehensive smart phone, more application options would have been ideal
I chose the E650 from Orange based on the fact it was a Windows smartphone and I hoped to be able to find freeware for it. I last owned a Nokia N70 and really enjoyed the applications I could download.
I transformed my phone into a tool for fun and work, I was hoping for this from the E650, but it turned out that I could just get Java applications only.
On the plus side, it worked very well as a smartphone. The Wifi on it has proved invaluable when I've wanted to quickly get some information. The e-mail capabilities were quite good and given the fact that there was a qwerty slide-out keyboard, this made for a handy tool.
It came with Internet Explorer, but I chose to install the mini opera Java app instead. Although not brilliant, it was far better that IE's offering.
I chose against a touch-screen phone because I wasn't sure about their durability. I'd also had such a positive experience with my previous smartphone that I thought I'd give a Windows smartphone a go.
Overall, I've loved this phone because it had almost everything I needed at the time. It comes with a 2.0 MegaPixel camera, all the usual media stuff like MP3 and video. It didn't have an FM radio, but I wasn't that fussed anyway. I could view PDFs, Word, Excel and Powerpoint files, could write text notes, use the calendar, set an alarm, and all the other things you expect in a smartphone.
I've got a small gripe, however - the phone tends to switch off when the keyboard is activated slightly (such as when it's in my pocket). It isn't a common problem and is probably just my particular phone.
Would I buy it again? If my next upgrade wasn't going to be the full windows pda phone, then yes, I'd be happy to buy it.
I certainly wouldn't buy one again
Not a bad phone overall but a bit temperamental, some great features, Windows based so it syncs well, slide out keyboard etc.
The biggest problem I have is that it keeps crashing, sometimes it does it without you noticing, it freezes up but you see no indication... the next time you speak to the wife you get bombarded with why haven't you been answering your phone!
Other times it locks up mid screen, I sent the first one back and the new one still does it. I certainly wouldn't buy one again - its a bit old hat now anyway with all the iPhone copies on the market. Only 8 months left on the contract!
Very slick and professional for a large phone
I have been more than happy with my purchase of the SPV E650.
Lets start with the design...
For a big phone, I find it quite slick and professional looking. I like the brushed black colouring and the silver details set it off.
It also has a handy slide cover over the camera which is a very useful feature - as is the large colour screen.
As for the the features in this phone, it has many.
