Nokia N95 8GB Reviews

Nokia N95 8GB Overview
The Nokia N95 8GB has stepped in after the highly successful Nokia N95. It is a great step as well! The N95 8GB comes with a massive memory upgrade of 8 Gigabytes, a larger display screen and enhanced GPS features. It also packs in Nokia's gaming features called N-Gage which we have seen in previous Nokia phones in the past. This version comes in a stylish Black in contrast to the standard Nokia N95 which comes in Silver. It still comes with the amazing features of the standard version such as the 5 megapixel camera which performs even better with the new enlarged, clearer 2.8" display. The Nokia N95 8GB really is an ultimate smart phone.

5th Nokia mobile I have owned and again I'm not disappointed
This is the 5th Nokia mobile I have owned and again I'm not disappointed. The features within this handset are second to none, offering me access to my email and plenty of storage space for all my pictures videos, music etc. I would recommend this handset to anyone as a great piece of kit that does exactly what it says on the tin, absolutely everything.
all the features I was hoping for from a smartphone
I think this is an excellent phone, it looks great and it has all the features I was hoping for from a smartphone. Plus there is now even more software out there which can be downloaded onto the phone.
My only quibble about this phone is the slight weak feeling to the build quality. The accompanying software is also not that easy to use so most of the time I end up using an older version of this software.
just got an Nokia N95 8GB and I absolutely love it
I´ve just got an Nokia N95 8GB and I absolutely love it, from the elegant black finish to the GPS system. What I found surprising was how easy it was to use, you just flip the slide up, push the menu button and you are good to go. Plus the sound quality is excellent and so is the speaker volume, thumbs up.
same as the Nokia N95 4gb but only with a hard drive and 8gb built in
I think the the phone is ok, I wouldnt go overly mad about, its exactly the same as the Nokia N95 4gb but only with a hard drive and 8gb built in to it. The only reason I've got this phone is that my Nokia N95 4gb got water damaged and Vodafone did not have that on in stock any more so I had this one.
takes pictures just like a digital camera
Brilliant phone, very easy to work, it has lots of functions to use on the phone, the battery stays charged well, nice big colour screen to see. Nice and loud to hear, the camera is really good aswell takes pictures just like a digital camera, very clear just a good phone all round.
internet and 8GB of memory its more like a mini computer
This is an awesome phone if you use all of its features. Lightweight double slider for number pad or music/film controls. Sat Nav GPS, internet and 8GB of memory its more like a mini computer.
I did have a problem with sending texts at first, it received them but each time I tried to reply it failed so had to do a full factory reset using the code from Nokia, this however now means I can't watch the free film that came with it (Spiderman3) unless I send it away for a few days to Nokia.
Excellent phone, durable, attractive and user friendly
Excellent phone, durable, attractive and user friendly. Good quality camera and easy to upload photos onto computer. Good applications, such as the convertor, world clock and calculator. Good size and weight and loads of memory to keep stuff saved on it without having to constantly delete things.
great phone with a top camera and great video
This is a great phone with a top camera and great video, all very easy to understand and use, the battery can discharge really quick especially if you leave your bluetooth on. I would recommend the phone to anyone, its very stylish and full of upto date gadgets.
many outstanding features and the bulletproof trustworthiness of being Nokia
The Nokia N95 8GB is a good phone overall. It has many outstanding features and the bulletproof trustworthiness of being Nokia. The camera is brilliant and can be used in any conditions. The only downside with the phone for me is that it seems to take a while to open up messages and some programs, the battery doesnt seem to last very long either.
A very good phone that I would recommend, very stylish too.
very good mobile phone but expensive and a little on the heavy side
Very good mobile phone but expensive and a little on the heavy side, the secondary camera is not as good quality picture and disapointed in the display for the internet, the internet display on this phone is mobile internet (WAP), ideally it should be like computer view like the iPhone.
The list is really endless, top class mobile phone.
My first handset was returned as it had various faults, but the replacement was excellent. I have never had any further trouble. The applications are excellent, its very easy to use and ingenious sync for pc backup, sound is first class, the list is really endless, top class mobile phone.
Excellent in terms of memory, screen, look, functionality, camera
This phone is excellent in terms of memory, screen, look, functionality, camera, however it will let you down by running out of battery very quick, thats if you use a lot of gaming or music or the internet as these functions use up battery very quick so don't forget to take your battery charger if you on the move.
A phone you won't want to leave at home when you go out
This phone is great in almost every way. Its simple to use and has some great features that make it a phone you won't want to leave at home when you go out.
I think this is what a mobile should be like in this day and age. The GPS will assist in you not getting lost, 3G so you can have those face to face calls with your mates, the 8Gb's holds more than a laptop I had in the last ten years, the camera is very sound with optical zoom and 5.0 megapixels and all these great features can be easily viewed on the large clear screen.
As with all Nokia's everything is in the same place, very easy to use
Terrific phone, love the music player, its clear and the memory for it is fantastic. I think that the picture quality on it is as good as any dgital camera and the video is also good quality.
The N95 is the best mobile that I have ever had and I would recommend it to anyone. As with all Nokia's every thing is in the same place and is very easy to use and manage.
wasnt expecting much difference from my previous N95, how wrong was I
My last phone was the Nokia N95, so wasn't expecting too much more when upgrading to this model, how wrong I was. First of, the 8GB storage size is a huge advantage especially if like me, you convert a few movies, TV shows and MP3s to watch and listen on the move. The extra storage is also an advantage for the vast amounts of photos I know I will take with the 5.0 megapixel camera.
The camera no longer has the lens cover, so depending on were you keep your phone the lens can gather a few specs of dust. The camera also feels like it's slightly faster than the N95 but the features are still the same. For those not familiar, the options on the camera are as near to a proper digital camera as you can get, with built in software to manipulate your photos to switching to video mode.
Depending on your network the applications will most probably vary. I am with the 3 network and have to say over the past 3 years the service has improved immensely compared to their early days.
On the phone I get mini office software, sat nav and maps, a couple of games and N-Gage (you can register with NGage and get Fifa 08 free - quality is much better than normal mobile games). I also get free unlimited Skype to Skype calls and Windows Messenger free per month (but you can get this on the 3 pay as you go sim on this phone also).
The black smooth edges of the phone with the larger screen and specific slide out media buttons gives the phone a more of a media player feel, that compliments the media playing software for your movies and mp3s.
Overall, this is the best phone I have had but if I had waited a few months more before upgrading I could have got a touch screen phone - oh well always the way.
Highly recommend to everyone looking for a great multifunctional phone
The Nokia N95 8gb is an excellent piece of equipment, I dont really see it as a mobile phone but a multifunctional handheld device, with its 8gb built in you can use it as a MP3 player saving 1000s of songs onto it, the great quality and easy to use camera function is better than some digital cameras available.
It is full of great software such as Adobe pdf file reader and Real Player to watch great quality videos. I highly recommend this phone to everyone looking for a great multifunctional phone.
You have no need to buy a digital camera if you own this phone
I've now had this phone for 2 months and it has fulfilled expectations. The feature that outweighs all counterparts is the camera/video camera. The images are incredibly sharp and it's very easy to use, you have no need to buy a digital camera if you own this phone.
I've not delved into the Maps and Navigation feature completely yet, but the brief glimpse I've had is exciting.
For the size of the phone, what you get with it is remarkable. I've not had any problems with it so far, people I know who have had it longer haven't either.
I give it 4/5. Only reason it's not a 5 is that I dont believe anything in life is perfect
This is by far the best mobile phone I have had
I have had the Nokia N95 now for close to a year now and everything is still as impressive as the day that I bought it. The screen is amazingly resilient and all the buttons are still functioning with full integrity. This is by far the best mobile phone I have had.
After hearing Nokia had updated the processor, I went for the N95 8GB
I have always despised these smart phones, from the day my first Nokia smartphone froze up for good. However after hearing that the new N95 has a new processor which can actually handle all the applications, I updated my phone to a N95 8GB.
I have to say it is a very impressive phone, everything is laid out in the usual user-friendly Nokia style. If I can fault anything about the menu's, it is that some things that you will use alot seem to be hidden so to speak, not too easy to access through the maze of folders that I suppose is to be expected within a phone that can do more for you than most countries.
I think the design is spot on, it is not just a 'brick' it is a piece of beauty, especially good is the feature that lets you slide the phone both ways, one way for the MP3 player and the other for the other phone features.
The camera is very powerful and has most of the tools most digital camera's do. When creating videos the picture quality is quite poor if I'm honest but certainly up there with other rival phones.
So far the processor seems to be holding out ok with all the applications, however I am getting slight freeze's every now and then. The battery life is shocking when you use the more powerful applications like GPS or MP3 player.
Summary Plus Points....... Great design, great features & apps, user friendly, better processor, great camera, mass storage.
Minus Points...... Poor battery life when running applications, PC software is shocking,
I definitely think its one of the best phones on the market
The N95 8Gb from Nokia is really a great phone, I never realised there was so much on it.
The GPS is great, I use it loads and would be lost without it. Also another really good thing is that you can connect via a wireless router to access the internet.
The camera is great, you can connect it to your tv which I think is really good. The only downside I have noticed is that the signal sensitivity isnt as good as my partners phone, I would have less signal even though we're on the same network, but still, I definitely think its one of the best phones on the market.
Its like having a mobile phone, iPod and PSP all in one
I have had my Nokia N95 8GB for about 3 months now, after my mate got this mobile phone I wanted one because it had so many attractive things you can do on it, so when my contract ended for my old phone I went straight to the phone shop and asked for this phone.
I've had a few Nokia models before and found them very easy to use and even with the all the features this phone offers, the navigation is very straightforward and quick.
One things that has so far annoyed me, is if you dont close an application by selection Options > Exit, it leaves a symbol on the application to say it's open still, if this bothers you, then you have to go into it, to exit it. Also many of the features you have to pay for i.e subscription and they are not cheap.
Camera, I have enjoyed using the camera, the detail it captures impresses everyone, due to it having 5.0 megapixels which is the same as some camera's. One set back I find is if I need to take a picture very quickly, I press the shortcut button to open the camera, and it may take a second or two to get ready, so sometimes I've missed opportunities to take a good photo. I think this would depend on how much stuff you have on your phone, as you can store films and music on the phone, maybe that would slow it down very slightly.
The battery life, if you are only using your phone for phone calls and messaging, (phone calls that don't last hours) then the battery life is the same as most other phones. Today I watched two 20 minute cartoons that I have stored and now I am left with one bar of battery, but I didn't have a full battery to start with. I probably charge mine every other day, but because I watched long videos today, my battery went quickly. It doesn't take long to fully charge it, you have to remember if you want a phone with lots of applications to suit your needs, then you sacrifice brilliant battery life.
Calender and Alarms, I find the alarm suits me, as you can set as many alarms as you want, so when I have work there is no way I can 'forget' to set my second wake up alarm as it's all set up the night before, personally I love that. It's taken me a while to get used to setting reminders and to-dos on the calender, sometimes you don't have the option of setting an alarm, so you have to remember what option comes with what settings.
Slide option with music buttons, I really enjoy sliding the phone to reveal all the Play, Rewind, Stop buttons, not only is it practical with looking through films and videos you have stored, but it also looks very impressive and smart.
Internet, this is very simple to use, and you can set it up to use wireless rather than using O2 internet, so this makes it excellent if you need to use e-mail for work.
I recommend getting a phone cover for this model, as it has such a large screen and the back is made of a nice material it would be a shame to mess it up. I've had my phone for a month, so far I've been careful, but I still feel it's quite durable, but the material on the back of the phone looks like it could be damaged easily. I think the best phone cases for this model are about £8, but it's definitely worth it.
Gaming, I've definitely enjoyed games on this phone with such a large screen, it makes any game look impressive, the quality is excellent.
Films, this brings me onto the option of storing films, watching a film on it (mine came with a film on it already) really shows you the definition you get, it looks so cool. I have music videos on too, and you can store lots of music. I'd say it's like having a phone, iPod and PSP all in one.
Photos, when you've taken a photo, you can zoom in very far, except the quality obviously doesn't stay as good.
World clock, I like to travel, so something that is nice is I can add in a city and get the time for that country, nice feature.
One of the shortcut buttons on the front opens up a page which shows you the last things you did on each feature, like the last photo you took, last video watched, last music played, and lets you make a shortcut to certain contacts, and web pages.
I have a lot more to discover about this phone, but so far I have no complaints, which is excellent, as I am very fussy. If you choose to buy this phone I'm sure you'll enjoy it, and I hope this review helps.
Very adaptable, easy to set up and customise
Excellent phone, great features and easy to use. The best mobile phone that I have had so far. The camera is good and provides great clear photos. Very adaptable, easy to set up and customise according to your needs. I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of getting one.
3 months and I am still finding new features, which sums the N95 8GB
This phone has everything except a touchscreen, although chunkier and arguably perhaps not quite as pretty as some other models, it is crammed full of features such as GPS, Google and Nokia Maps which can turn the phone into a Sat-Nav.
The brilliant 5.0 mega-pixel camera with flash has never failed me in any environment, and it is simple to set up instant uploading to Facebook or Flickr.
The videos produced are of high enough quality to plug into the telly (using the provided cables) and enjoy. The music player is inspired, with a 3.5mm headphone jack meaning you can listen to music with standard headphones.
It also enables you to slide the phone two ways, revealing either a standard mobile keypad, or buttons for the music player (which also flips the screen horizontally). It has to be said though that the keypad when exposed, being set back slightly from the screen of the phone, is slightly more difficult to type on than other phones.
The sleek black casing and big screen has drawn many admiring comments, although I do find it wider than other phones I have had.
The phone includes QuickOffice software, a handy converter, and Adobe PDF reader which is very useful when browsing online. Although not as intuitive as the iPhone, the Internet capability is solid enough to use daily. There is also an interesting Barcode reader, which allows you to scan barcodes for hidden messages and URLS. I have not regularly used this, because it only works on Japanese-style 2D Matrix-type Barcodes, but in future perhaps these will become more popular in Britain.
The Nokia PC software enables you to backup the phone, update the software (after the backup!) and store the LifeBlog on the PC. This is an excellent way to view you photos and text messages, and can end up being a story-board to reminisce about. There are many useful shortcut keys, such as the gallery short-cut on the side of the phone.
The contacts book is packed full of possible details and personalisation for each person, but the process of adding a contact to a text message could have been slightly more user friendly than the check-box style. However, this enables multiple messages to be sent far more easily, such as to a whole "friends" group for example.
Like most of the Nokia's I have had, this phone is also durable, and the battery life is longer than I expected, even when browsing on the web for an hour or so. The 8GB mass memory, although not on a removable memory card (as in the original N95), is more than enough.
There are hundreds of other features which I haven't mentioned because I haven't signed up for them, such as N-Gage, a radio service, and numerous third party add-ons. I have had the phone for 3 months and I am still finding new features, which pretty much sums the N95 8GB up.
Works better with a paid for copy of Opera
Decent phone, happy with it as a phone but I find the GPS maps application fairly useless and its not an easy phone to use on the internet using a WiFi connection, the browser it ships with is clumsy, I find it works better with a paid for copy of Opera.
Picture quality from Camera outstanding
Great features with 8GB which can store your music downloads and pictures. The N95 boasts a 5.0 Megapixel camera which you can download to your computer and print off, the picture quality for a mobile phone is outstanding, I would recommended this phone to others.
5.0 megapixel camera is good enough to replace your usual camera
A great phone with lots of useful features, updating the firmware is easy and is done via the Nokia website. The camera and video features make this an ideal phone to capture moments wherever you are, the 5.0 megapixel camera is good enough to replace your usual camera.
Best mobile phone I have ever had or used
The N95 8GB from Nokia is the best phone I have ever had or used. It is very user friendly and is like having a mobile computer. The camera quality is fantastic, even better when you transfer your pictures onto your computer and the 8gb internal memory is ample for storing plenty. Overall I think this is the best phone on the market at the moment
Fantastic photo quality with a five mega pixel camera
This phone has fantastic photo quality with a five mega pixel camera that auto focuses, and the flash is automatic, dependant on your surroundings.
The MP3 Player and other devices are excellent, contributing to a phone with real ease of use and durability, the only downside is that it has so many functions, that the battery life is not very great.
Camera is of very good quality, it is also simple to use
I really love this phone, the camera is of very good quality, it is also simple to use. I find the calender extremely useful and like the option of watching movies on my mobile. The design is smart and classic, perhaps my only slight complaint is that the handset is a little large, but with all the features you get within the phone perhaps this is necessary.
Go and get one, you won't be disappointed
I have had my Nokia N95 8GB for a week now and I can say I am very impressed with it. The icons are crisp & clear and easy to navigate through unlike some other mobiles.
It has an amazing 5.0 mpx camera which take absolutely stunning photo's and with the larger viewing screen it's impossible to beat!
You have a built in GPS system with clear & easy instructions, it's fool proof really.
Ok, the phone is a bit chunky, but at least you know you have it in your pocket unlike some slim light phones on the market. You can get it in silver or a nice glossy black colour. This phone is an office all in one, everything you need is right on this phone.
Overall, go and get one,you won't be disappointed!
No faults or issues. Strongly Recommend N95 8GB
I've had Nokia N95 Black for just over a month now and am still finding new applications and still working out how to use it to its best potential.
The camera quality is extremely good and alot better then some of the high street digital cameras. The memory is also very large so comes in handy when taking holiday snaps and videos.
This phone is ideal for someone who loves gadgets as it is packed full of things to play with including sat nav, a barcode scanner, tv. The list goes on!
The only thing I would advise you watch out for is when I first got the phone it was constantly connected to the internet. So my tip is to make sure you hold down your red hang up button to disconnect.
Overal is a great phone and havent had any faults or issues with this phone. Would strongly recommend it.
Nokia N95 8GB is just perfect
I've had N95 8GB for over half a year - I haven't met any problems yet. It is a great phone.
I listen to music and watch videos all day and the battery life lasts 2 days. It's awesome!!!
The bluetooth stereo headphones charge last for quite a while and the sound quality is very good and the volume is usually louder then wired headsets.
The drain on the battery on the phone won't be to bad since it's got a strong battery.
Screen 2.8inch TFT, 16M colors; 8GB memory ; Wi-Fi ; Bluetooth, USB; infra-red connectivity, 5 MP Carl Zeiss optics.
It is just perfect.
Far better than the iPhone
A phone that might be considered a competitor to the iPhone, apart from the fact it is far better! Yes it is not quite as good looking or stylish as the iPhone, but it's features more than make up for it, Large internal memory, GPS, 5 megapixel camera more than compensate for its chunkiness.
