Nokia N900 Reviews

The Powerful Nokia N900 runs on the Linux based Maemo OS which delivers a PC like experience. The handset packs a powerful ARM Cortex-A8 processor which allows you to have dozens of application windows and running simultaneously. Navigation on the 3.5 inch touchscreen is made easy allowing you to switch between applications quickly. There is also a slide out QWERTY keyboard, ideal for messaging and web browsing. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and Dual LED Flash, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and 32GB of internal memory.
it is a portable internet tablet
The Nokia N900 comes with a full functional qwerty keypad that is easily accessible, which also allows the user to view the entire screen while they are on the net or even IM. It has a large storage space of 32GB which will allow you to store your favourite music and movies. This gadget is not only just a phone, it is a portable internet tablet, works on 3G networks and Wi-Fi too.
I am amazed at how few settings this N900 actually has.
Major disappointment when I finally got the phone. Only other Nokia phone I have ever had was an N95 which was excellent and you could control completely in every setting but I am amazed at how few settings this N900 actually has.
It is so limited that I actually thought I was missing some of the OS. Nothing for Sound quality, no inbox/outbox/drafts in texts, no mms, orientation is only for phone mode-everything else in landscape (which is annoying)
Battery is next to useless-you have to turn everything off and allow the irritating 'power save' to lock the phone every few seconds just to last a day if lucky-and that is not heavy usage!! (not a phone I would like to be stuck with in an emergency).
The touch screen is ok but you have to hit it just right to get it to do what you want which is no where near as responsive and precise as the iphone. Nokia PC Suite and OVI Suite do not support this phone-stupid!! (I checked that with Nokia direct when I could not get them working).
Speaker volume is ok 'ish' but not that clear, web browsing ok but certainly nothing exceptional. Was suprised at how few file types it could handle, I could chuck anything at the N95 and it played it, this thing was very choosy which I did not expect.
Could go on but overall the phone was a huge let down given all the hype and big price tag. I had held off getting a new contract for this phone but have now sent it back and getting an iPhone or HTC.
find the touch screen keypad very useful and easy to use
I got mine 4 days ago. I have been trying to open an Ovi and Nokia account in order to download some apps. Initially it was ok to open the accounts but now every time I try to sign in it doesn't allow me and if I try to open a new one it doesn't allow me either and the reason being that another account already exist with the same number. Also not able to manage the position of the widgets on desktop.
Another problem is the battery, which dies very quick if you watch one or 2 videos on Youtube. I have two spare batteries but still not enough if I use internet and talk at the same time. Not to mention that I usually carry two phones, one for business and one for personal use. Its also a bit slow in responding to tasks such as when I press the call button to get the keypad and make a call.
The N900 is a lot different to a normal Nokia handset since it doesn't give you many options with text messages or phone book. For example there is no Inbox/sent box and no delivery report box although you can kind of see what's happened to your text as there will be a graphical sign on it. It's also very slow in changing the screen orientation and it only does it on call and contact page. There is no msn or Yahoo messenger which is very disappointing.
Bluetooth menu is not easy and straight forward but find the touch screen keypad very useful and easy to use once you get use to it. Overall I'm not really happy and it has been a huge disappointment for me. I waited months for the N900 but now I guess I will return the handset and order an iphone 3GS.
The screen quality is amazing and has easy navigation
Quality phone, has a few issues with restarting and cannot be charged if battery has gone flat, but overall an excellent phone. The screen quality is amazing and has easy navigation through the internet and to it's various menus. Also with the 32gb memory there is always room for as much music as you want!
the USB port broke off as I was removing the charger
I thought it was a great phone until after 3 weeks the USB port broke off as I was removing the charger. We were told by the Nokia repair service at A1 Austria that we had abused the phone. Ridiculous considering I treated the phone as my baby and there isn't a single scratch on it.
Not only that, but I have just found out from reading on the internet that this is actually a common problem with the phone.
It might pay to wait a while until Nokia fixes the problem, or just buy an iphone.
Texting is an absolute breeze with the qwerty keyboard
This phone does it all! The sheer technology makes this device indistinguishable from your personal computer. Texting is an absolute breeze with the qwerty keyboard. Camera takes fantastic snaps, even in dull conditions, with the 5MP carl zeiss optics lens and dual led flash. Storage is a massive 32 GB internal storage.
Maemo Operating system is an open source OS, so the possibilities for further development of apps, games etc are limitless. The only downside is the size, but this is worth it for the huge amount of technology packed into the device.
Overall an outstanding phone that can be distinguished from the rest.
It is a fantastic user friendly phone
I am currently testing this phone. It is a fantastic user friendly phone. Very responsive touchscreen, not feeling like the usual N series but more like an iphone.
The browser is fantastic, high speed and you can customise the phone with your own widgets and 4 screens that you can put lots of different apps of your choice on. Would definitely recommend this phone to anyone thinking of looking for a smartphone.
The only drawback I can see is the phone calling isnt the clearest but doesnt put me off the phone. Also the massive 32gb internal memory with the option to upgrade to 48gb with a memory card has got to put it ahead of its rivals.
