I would recommend it highly even a year down the road
Great phone, froze a few times when I first bought it but I stuck with it and it sorted itself out. The phone can be a bit technical because there is so much on it, but it has managed to keep my interest for over a year.
I spend a lot of time on the internet and its been great for that, nice and fast, seems to be a popular phone on the internet from what people write, I would recommend it highly even a year down the road.
easy to use and comes with a very clear 3.2 megapixel camera
This phone is extremely easy to use and comes with a very clear 3.2 megapixel camera and music player. The only disadvantage with the "Music Player" buttons, is that they are situated on the side of the phone, hence can be accidentally pressed.
The phone is quite large in comparison to some of the other sleeker models, however is very comfortable to use.
Cant fault it other than getting my head round the navigation system again
Had this phone for 3 months now, had a few problems to start with but were soon sorted out by 3. Cant fault it other than getting my head round the navigation system again (came from a Sony Ericsson)
that was the only problem, loads on this phone, more than I use but for some I'm sure it would be sufficient, love the phone.
soon wore off as the phone started to freeze and turn itself off
I have had this phone for 17 months now. When I got it I was impressed with the large screen and the range of features. That soon wore off as the phone started to freeze and turn itself off and on at random times.
Now everytime I text, it says sending for approx 10 mins, turns itself off and when it comes back on the message hasnt sent, its just in the outbox. The joystick knob has a habit of falling off too.
I wouldnt recommend this phone at all. It looks flashy but is basically rubbish.
quite complicated to use and takes a while to start up
This is an excellent phone, quite cheap nowadays, however if you aren't good with technology don't buy it. It is quite complicated to use and takes a while to start up. Camera is good as well as videos. This phone is extremely customizable with many applications and games being able to run on it.
considered returning it, but pleased I didn't
Phone seemed complicated at first and the joystick hurt my finger. I considered returning it, but pleased I didn't, I now love it and the camera is fantastic, even took my holiday photos with it. The screen is big which allows for easy message and picture viewing.
phone is a bit heavy compared to newer handsets
The phone is a bit heavy and compared to most new ones, its a bit on the large size, altough it is easy to use and very user friendly. The battery life is not too great and the phone freezes a lot when changing from one application to another especially when using the camera.
if you are on a budget, you,ll get great value from the Nokia N73
The Nokia N73, even though it is a rather old phone, is still an amazing handset. The 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens provides high quality shots by simply activating the camera slider.
The large 2.4 inch screen is beautiful. Resolution is 320x240 and viewing photos is a pleasure on the easy to navigate gallery viewer.
Bluetooth v2 and 3G are also included in the phone for high speed data transfer. Also, you can connect the N73 to a laptop or computer via the Nokia Data Cable (Supplied in the box).
If the onboard memory is not sufficient, memory is expandable through a hot swap card slot at the bottom of the phone. The phone accepts mini SD cards only.
Call clarity is also excellent, with a talk time of around 4 hours, long conversations can be enjoyed without worrying about charging. A handsfree headset is also included in the box as standard.
Battery life is rather good, but this depends, obviously, on what you do with the phone. Talking on the phone, snapping photos or playing games will obviously drain the battery quicker than sending texts or having your phone idle.
All round, this is an excellent phone from Nokia. However, it is a little outdated. If you are on a budget, this is the one to go for!
good for printing good quality photos
The N73 has excellent features, very easy to use. The camera takes great pictures as it is 3.0 megapixels, which is good for printing good quality photos. It's also great to use for web'n'walk as it has a big screen for easy viewing. There are 2 camera's on this phone, one at the front and one at the back, which both take pictures.
central joystick is also sometimes awkward to use
Phone is ok but it does not automatically lock and when I put it in my bag I find that I keep unintentionally calling people. The central joystick is also sometimes awkward to use, sometimes I press the right hand menu button and find that I can not get out of it .
I like the Nokia N73 but the navigation and customisation could be improved
The N73 is easy to use like most Nokia phones, the layout of the features are good. The main problems I find are the joystick, gets annoying and too small so dont have it, equally it is tricky if not impossible to have the programs you want on the main screen for quick use.
A problem I have recently had is that I upgraded the software over the web recently and lost the Snake game which i'm gutted about, minor really but these things annoy.
It can freeze now and then so has to be turned off,
apart from this I like the Nokia N73 and the camera is great.
Owning it for 3 months or more I have no complaints
The Nokia N73 is a phone that shows taste, its design is simple, sophisticated and elegant. It has the latest software and hardware available being up-to-date with todays technology. It offers the best features to its users as follows:
1. Built-in 3.5 megapixel camera with zoom facility and lens cover protection as well as high resolution camera.
2. Bluetooth, infared and USB connection and PC synchronisation.
3. Internet with fast wap, allows emails & MMS to be received.
4. Mini SD slot up to 2GB space (software update may be needed)
5. Excellent office features such as callender, to-do notes, reminders and notes which come in handy.
6. Radio and MP3 player as well as RealPlayer
The phone is appropriate for those looking for good features at an adequate price. This mobile wont let you down as it carries Symbian's S60 3rd edition software and after owning it for 3 months or more I have no complaints on it so would advise others to buy it.
The Nokia N73 is surely one of the market leaders
If you want a phone where you can add all sorts of programs, games, and other software, then the Nokia N73 is surely one of the market leaders. The simple design is user friendly and it has a decent sized screen to match.
The camera facilities are very good as is the compatibility with other software. There are tons of things you can put on the phone. For instance, I have the full Tom Tom Satelite software on my mobile, which works inline with a GPS receiver as it doesnt have one of its own. You can add various programs too, like the London Underground tube map and journey planner, various dictionaries and so much more.
The games are also brilliant to use and remind me of the old Commodore Amiga games. The photo and movies can be very good quality or you can scale them down to publish or send to friends.
All this quality does not come without some faults, there are a few software glitches which have never been ironed out, even with the latest 2008 software upgrade from Nokia. For instance, the camera is temperamental and sometimes will not work when you click the button to take a picture.
Its also impossible to disconnect immediately from a busy number you just rang, it takes around 10-15 seconds for this to clear. When switching the phone off, the back light stays on, so you have to remove the back flap and battery before it switches off completely.
What makes these problems more annoying is that they are intermittent and when you send the phone away for repair, you will only ever get a software upgrade at best. Having sent my phone away no less than 3 times, I now just put up with it as the problems seem fixed and then a few days later mysteriously come back.
All this said, it is still a phone I would recommend as its very good in its usability. However if you want a simple "text n call" phone, then maybe other models would be more suitable.
Good camera 3.2 megapixels, and a good music player
Great battery life, simple to use. Good camera 3.2 megapixels, a good music player, all round a great phone for private use, I didnt use it for business.
Only problem was that the joystick needs replacing and that involves a complete keypad replacement.
I am glad to have gone back to using a Nokia mobile phone
Easy to use, I am glad to have gone back to using a Nokia mobile phone. Only thing I don't like is the centre button, when you press it instead of going to the menu it goes to web browser which I never use,
camera quality is good but the delay in taking the photo means the dog has moved out of frame.
Battery life is really good and the memory is not shabby either
Good phone, battery life is really good and the memory is not shabby either plus you can add a memory card. The joystick in the middle sometimes sticks a little bit and the menu button is in a strange place, easy enough to get used to though, a good phone.
Good looks, good layout and a fantastic camera
One of best mobile phones I have ever owned, with good looks, good layout and a fantastic camera, easy to log onto the internet.
The phone slips into the workplace and home use and going out for the evening. It is robust and can take a fair amout of knocks with out losing its features.
You can upgrade the phone memory up to a 2 gig card, plenty of room for music, great quality sound and photos are excellent.
You can also bluetooth all your music or photos to your mates which is very easy to do, an all round beauty, if you love Nokia.
The camera is superb for a 3.2 megapixel
The N73 from Nokia is great to use but the paint comes off the top corners easily, the centre stick also starts to stick after a while. The camera is superb for a 3.2 megapixel, all in all I am very plaesed with the phone. I know other people with the same phone and they feel the same about it.
the camera is very good
I think the model is good but I sometimes find the software which is running at the backend makes it slower. The incoming call quality is not so good, network issue maybe? but the camera is very good in this phone.
I highly recommend the Nokia N73
So far this is the best phone I have used for what it has to offer. The design is slim, solid and neat, the screen brightness & resolution is excellent. Best of all, no dead pixels after owning the N73 for some time. Battery life is typical Nokia, sometimes no need to charge it up for a week even when regularly used.
I bought this phone mainly for the interactive features like live news & sport. For watching Internet TV on the go its superb as there is no bluriness when moving, the sound is crisp & audible.
What has impressed me the most is the integrated camera. I have taken numerous pictures on it and I could not believe how clear the quality is. Also taking movies does a better job than some digital cameras I have used, no blocky images or distorted sound.
So if you want a phone for more than chatting or sending messages, I highly recommend the Nokia N73 as it has many more excellent features.
is a shame as I am usually a big fan
The menu is so slow when trying to view messages etc, the screen tends to freeze quite often on my handset and this cannot be rectified by turning the phone off - you have to take the battery out. Overall, this is the worst Nokia I have had which is a shame as I am usually a big fan!!
9 months without a problem I would recommend the Nokia N73
I was unsure at first whether to go for the Nokia N73 as I had heard both good and bad reviews. After having the phone for 9 months without a problem I would recommend it. Great for taking pictures and video's and you can buy extra memory of 2 gig and it will hold over 1000 pictures.
At first glance the buttons look small and appear difficult to use, this is not the case, you soon get used to the feel of the N73.
Great phone all round although the weight is a little more than other phones but it signifies it's quality, had it now for 9 months and due a new upgrade. Phone still in perfect working order without a scratch on it so I will clear the data and put it on ebay.
As you can see these phones are built to last.
Pretty easy to use with some nice features
Overall a pretty average phone, not had any major problems with it and i have owned one for about 12 months now. The phone is pretty easy to use with some nice features. The camera gives pretty good still picture quality but is let down by taking a long time to switch to camera mode. The office software seems pretty cool but the screen is a bit too small to actually be able to read any pdf or office files - a feature that sounds pretty cool but is just a little silly.
Pay the extra for a Nokia N95
Nifty looking phone. Hard to text with and joystick gets stuck in my pocket as it stands out a little bit funny.
Great online and easy to use, a little on the slow side especially when it comes to the camera (which is fantastic by the way!)
I've also got a N95 and this phone is not nearly as nice as the N95. Definitely pay more for a Nokia N95!
Using the phone every day doesn't inspire confidence
It looks good, has a memory card expansion, is nicely built, has a minimum of chrome to get scratched and greasy, and takes high end S60 applications.
But... Mine doesn't work! It keeps turning itself off. It rings people of it's own accord, even when it is left unattended and nowhere near a pocket.
S60 phones can't be key locked when you receive them - you have to install an additional application, which is quite easy really, but the processor isn't quite up to it. Installing anything more than a key locker and perhaps a better alarm feature brings the whole house crashing down around you.
Just using the phone every day doesn't inspire confidence. It feels slow and clunky, and things which you take for granted like predictive text seem a generation or two behind the times - suggesting really obscure words or abreviations rather than really common words.
Updating the software helps a bit, but not entirely - it makes it a llittle more relible and less prone to crashing, but doesn't fix the functionality, or help the speed issues.
My phone is with Orange, which brings about it's own range of problems - the Orange customisation doesn't quite work with the N73, so there is always a voicemail icon showing, which sounds tiny but it's annoying!
Most Networks stopped selling the N73 early because of the problems, and after complaining to Orange they are now shipping me a new replacement phone at no extra charge.
The OS is excellent
Great phone apart from all the usual Nokia/Symbian glitches... slow response.
I've had 4 this year due to software and hardware issues but I think mainly due to the fact that Orange use reconditioned replacement phones.
The OS is excellent, the phone is really easy to use and the Nolia PC Suite lets u do everything really quickly via ur PC.
