the keypad is such a joy to use

Although this phone is smart and slick it seams to lack some of the punch the HTC and iPhones have. This is unfortunately down to the lack of applications available and although Novia are working on OVI, I cant help feel it is to little too late.

This phone is much better than a Blackberry as it feels smart in your hand and the keypad is such a joy to use. Typing on this smart device is like second nature to IT workers and other keyboard users alike.

Texing and e-mailing is briliant using the Nokia messaging service to allow connection to all pop mail servers and OWA and exchange servers for business users.

This is an ideal phone for business users as the calendar and office functions are practical and easy to use. You can sync the calendar with your e-mail client to stay informed of business or personal engagements.

All in all a very good Blackberry type phone with a solid and sturdy build. Ideal for the business class person or someone who likes to stay in touch. If however you are after application depth than opt for a Android or iPhone as Nokia are still lacking in that department.

The E71 has most of the features you could expect from smart phones these days

When I first saw this mobile phone from distance I thought it was a Blackberry, it's design is very similar.

The E71 has most of the features you could expect from smart phones these days. You will find bluetooth, 3.2mpx camera, and full "Qwerty keyboard.

The screen is big enough to easily read messages etc, but I'd say the keys on the keyboard are to small for most men and you will have to use your nails to type in something.
But on the other hand it has error correction software which helps you.

It's quite a good phone overall.

The camera on the phone has a good level of quality

This phone is a stylish alternative to the Blackberry range of Qwerty keyboard phones on the market. It has a sleek and modern design to it and the keys have a nice feel to them. Although the keyboard is little you do become customed to the size of the keys and will soon think nothing of using it at all.

The camera on the phone has a good level of quality considering it's 3.2 megapixel, it can take a respectable quality picture or video. The one point to note on the camera is that even in silent you cannot turn off the shutter sound when taking a picture which can be annoying if you're taking a picture somewhere quiet.

It comes with the usual nokia extras such as the zip compression application and barcode scanner, almost useless to the everyday phone user but handy at the same time.

The features are good when they work

While this was good to start with I've had many problems with this phone. The features are good when they work but it keeps loosing the signal and has recently randomly deleted half of my contacts. I keep having to restore the factory settings and I've only had it for 3 months.

The function of this mobile is very good and very easy to adapt.

Have had this phone now for 10 days. Like the loook of this phone a lot, very sleek nd trendy. The function of this mobile is very good and very easy to adapt. The QWERTY keyboard is also very useable. Have used various phones before this including the Blackberry curve for some time and have loved this phone the most. The camera and sound quality of this phone are also pretty good.

has all the features and is definately the best phone I have had

I use this phone for work as it allows me to access my emails all the time even when im on the move. It is not as big as some of the PDA type phones that I have had in the past but it has all the features and is definately the best phone I have had. It looks good and it keeps me organised and is very user friendly.

good size, very slim and handles very well

The E71 is a really great phone. It is a good size, very slim and handles very well. So far I have not had any major problems, though it does freeze for a minute or so on the few occasions that I have received more than one message at the same time! The apps are good, and it is easy to use.

Highly recommended

Fantastic phone, very cool looking phone especially with the shiny back that comes with the black colour phone, easy to use smartphone as well.

Texting with the phone isnt easy at first but you get used to it quickly, maybe its because I have very large fingers, but overall very easy to navigate round the buttons.

One very cool thing about this phone is the ringtone function that tells you the name of the caller calling you,, now thats very very cool. Highly recommended

all the features I require from a 3G phone with out being too flash

Now this is my follow - up review, having owned and used this phone constantly for a year. This phone has been really good over the period. It is highly user friendly, smart and crammed with all the features I require from a 3G phone with out being "too flash".

I have used pretty much all the functions except for the maps and have NEVER been let down. Of course there are down sides and these are.

Firstly, I do not use the supplied carry case which has meant that on a handful of occasions the keylock has de-activated and I have phoned people by accident when the phone has been in my pocket. The solution is quite simple, use the carry case which is supplied.

Secondly, the headphone jack is a different size to the norm, meaning you can only use the supplied headphones which I find uncomfortable, or purchase a small jack plug. The volume on the headphones could be a touch higher but works really well.

When in some buildings I have found that whilst other people get an adequate signal, sometimes this phone does not (but this is rare). The camera and flash is good quality, the web browsing is excellent, and the phone is user friendly.

I change my phone very frequently however this one has stood the test of time and I will not be selling it on as it is so good and I will be keeping it as a spare, no doubt I will return to it.

I am waiting for an E75 to arrive and it had better be as good as this superb piece of equipment or else.

well worth a look

I found this to be a great phone, well built and full of features. I like sportstracker with gps to track your run/walk/cycle, distance etc. Texting and emails are also easy and quick to create. There are also many other great apps available for this phone via Nokia's ovi store, well worth a look.

One of the best business mobiles I ever had

One of the best business mobiles I ever had, the only thing which really frustrates me is the wireless LAN doesn't support NEtGear routers and I need to get this fixed, because I can't get it done, and I'm not the only one unfortunately. No Firmware I tried achieved this so far. No problem with everything else, excellent.

Only downside is the size of the screen when using the internet

The Nokia E71 has lots of features, its simply laid out and easy to use, it has a suprisingly good camera again easy to use with lots of internal storage space and even more storage space on the memory card provided. Only downside is the size of the screen when using the internet, a little small when compared to the likes of the iPhone.

Qwerty keyboard is so convenient

This phone easily excels the common Blackberry's as I have had them all. The speed of internet no matter which network is really good. Qwerty keyboard is so convenient. A really worth while phone with only too many features to explore, go for it.

have been very pleased with its performance

Excellent all round phone with great usability! I have been using this phone for around a month now and have been very pleased with its performance. Having previously owned a E61i it was easy to adapt to the interface on this phone but I found that this phone was a lot more responsive and loading applications took a fraction of the time in comparison.

It has a nice solid feel to it and the buttons are nicely rounded so that even my big thumbs can easily select the right key on the qwerty keypad. Excellent connectivity with pretty much everything you could ask for including wifi, 3.5g, bluetooth and infra red and the built in sat nav also comes in very handy! overall I am very impressed with this phone.

This phone is great, just like a Blackberry

This phone is great, just like a Blackberry. The buttons can be quiet difficult to use if you have large fingers and it can take a little getting used to if your not used to a qwerty keypad but once you get the hang of it is excellent. I've only had a few software issues but I think thats due to the content I've downloaded.

particularly attractive, well made and easy to use

The E71 is an obvious contender to the Blackberry Curve models but has a personality all of its own. The keyboard is wide and easy to use and the design and dimensions enable the handset to still be used as a practical phone. The silver/grey model is particularly attractive, well made and easy to use thanks to Nokia's Symbian software and easy to set up connection software.

Incredible phone

Incredible phone, easy to get used to, even for those of us who have never used such a device! The calendar function is fantastic and allows use of the phone as a portble diary which is great. The QWERTY keyboard is easy to use due to the large keys, and the shape of them allows you to type without watching the keys!

two months now and cannot heap enough praise on it

I have owned this phone for about two months now and cannot heap enough praise on it! I decided to opt out of the fashion phone market and take the plunge into the smartphone / PDA genre. The only problem being that I am by no means a Techie.

This phone is light, smart and fully loaded with stuff that Mr average can understand and use on a day to day basis. I chose the masculine black version on Orange. I have had no problems with reliability and it is so easy to use that I have not even had to pick up the hand book once.

The phone is great looking and sexy, with loads of people commenting on its stylish design. It looks like a Blackberry with the trademark qwerty keyboard. I was unsure on this format initially however after initial confusion, I wonder how I can ever go back to the usual conventional mobile keypad.

The phone is so light that it slips neatly into a shirt pocket and I need to keep checking that it is still there.

The front screen is a pure joy and exceptionally easy to navigate to any function from. It has a good but not great camera facility and the video is acceptable (not excellent). The music player is excellent even without headphones, and the screen size makes web browsing another real pleasure..this is something I have not enjoyed on many other phones I have owned.

I noticed that on previous reviews, many people moan about smear marks on the casing. I cannot say that this is a problem I have encountered on this one, maybe because of the colour??

Again, I do find myself fiddling with the phone when I get downtime and generally keep finding things on it that keep me amused, generally things like the appointments diary, talk text etc, games, internet, the radio, and loads more.

If I had to mark the phone down on anything then it would be the size of the keys. I must have the largest clumsiest fingers ever on a human, however even I mastered the texting and dialling after two days. Practice makes perfect.

I was going to order a Nokia N96 (my wife has one) but am so pleased that I went for the E71. It has all the gadgets of the N96, for example a massive memory with a memory card slot, WiFi etc and is smaller, sleeker and nice looking.

I hate to say it but I honestly believe that I may be hanging onto this phone for a little while...........

A good upgrade from E61

Excellent phone, good solid construction with metal body, does not feel plasticy at all. Keyboard is easy to use, though not recommended to use in a leather case as it interfere's with the outermost keys.

Screen is clear and bright. The camera gives really best results in daylight, really sharp and clear, though dark conditions and artificial light give grainy results. Battery life not bad though could be better. Overall really pleased with the phone!! A good upgrade from E61.

one of the slimmest and lightest mobile phones on the market

The E71 is one of the best smart phones on the market at the moment. It has a beautiful solid build and a classic design. The keyboard whilst being very small is easy to use. In addition it has an excellent battery life. I usually listen to music, use the internet and make about 60 minute of calls per day and still have at least half the battery life at the end of the day.

The screen is bright and has good resolution generally. The built in speakers are excellent quality and. It is one of the slimmest and lightest mobile phones on the market. I recommend getting this mobile as its one of the few excellent mobiles on the market.

first smart phone where the phone actually works

This is the first smart phone where the phone actually works. The phone has every major feature (full word/excel/powerpoint editing and creating. Html web browsing, GPS, WIFI and 3.5g) and no doubt more.

I have had Nokia's before and they have either been to big (Nokia 9310) or missed out on the querty keyboard. As soon as the web browser can fully support flash (Skyfire is getting there but it is not perfect) and hopefully the BBC will work out a way of getting the iPlayer to work.

Superb, wouldn't swap for the world now

I took a long time deciding when changing my E70, the main difficulty was I wanted a qwerty keyboard. The E71 has a massive range of features and now I can ditch my mp3 player, tomtom, pda and have all in one gadget. Superb, wouldn't swap for the world now!. The only issue I now have is when Vodafone will 'pass' the latest Nokia software upgrade.

The QWERTY keyboard design is excellent

This phone is one of the best because of its features and beautiful design. It is so small in size and thin, when you put it into your pocket, you won't feel it is there. The QWERTY keyboard design is excellent. Even though the keys are that small, it is still easy to be press.

The features include 3G, GPS, AGPS, WIFI, VPN and others. The quality pictures taken by the camera of this phone are not really that good even though it is a 3.2 megapixel.

the buttons are a bit close together

The phone has a 3.15 megapixel camera but for the price of the phone I thought the camera could have been better.

The phone looks good and feels good, but with so many buttons on the keypad, the buttons are a bit close together, which makes it difficult when writing txts as I tend to txt a lot.

The phone has good battery life which I like as some mobile phone batteries dont seem too last too long after giving them a recharge.

I really like the fact that I can use Facebook on this handset

The phone was originally supposed to be a business phone, but I really like it, I am a 15 year old girl who uses it to text and call friends etc. I really like the fact that I can use Facebook etc on this phone and its fast.

I did sometimes find it a little difficult to text at the beginning but got used to it after a couple of weeks, and I really loved the QWERTY keyboard as this meant I didn't have to press a button up to 4 times to get one letter. I would definitely recommend buying this phone.
