had the keypad replaced once under warranty

I have had the keypad replaced once under warranty. First the centre button split and then various other keys split and fell to pieces. The same thing has now happened 4 months later. The clock does not change when the clocks go back so messages received show as being one hour out. Apart from that I like the phone but if I have to pay to replace the keypad again I shall simply throw this phone away

tap the front of the phone to see if you have any messages

This phone is very easy to use, lightweight, fits in pocket very easily and comes with a pouch to stop it getting too scratched. The best thing is you can tap the front of the phone to see if you have any messages etc without opening it up. Lots of memory for music etc. Camera is great and very easy to use.

Nokia refuse to admit there is a problem with this key

Looks like a great phone until you've had it for about a month and then the flimsy plastic scroll or "navi" key develops small cracks and then falls to pieces. As this key is essential to operation of the phone it will need to be replaced but Nokia refuse to admit there is a problem with this key, although a quick search online shows many people with this phone have had the identical fault develop.

As Nokia will not replace this key under warranty I have now had it repaired twice at a cost of almost £40 eacj time only for the same thing to happen a few weeks down the line.

I have now decided that it is cheaper to throw the phone away and buy a new handset. So unfortunately my advice would be steer clear of this handset.

price is a bit steep but it my opinion totally worth it

Definately my favourite phone, it's full of great nifty features like the 'life line' light which illuminates gently every 10 seconds to show the battery level, plus the outside can be tapped to deactivate the alarm.

Plus as well as having all the important features like a converter etc it also has your everyday things like the inbuilt radio and stopwatch. The price is a bit steep but it my opinion totally worth it, comes thoroughly recommended by me regardless of price!!

Call me picky, but I think that this is a BASIC requirement

Got the Nokia 6600 fold as a free upgrade on O2. Picked that phone because it came with a free Wii Fit Board ( Should have been a hint that they were giving £70's worth of stuff away just to get rid of the phones... ).

First one was poor - straight out of the box it was unusable: wouldn't send or recieve texts, wouldn't make or recieve calls. Call me picky, but I think that this is a BASIC requirement of any phone, no matter how flash it looks. Immediately sent it back, and recieved a replacement three day later ( today ).

This one makes calls and sends texts - sometimes, but not always - but the "double tap" feature doesn't work... and the sound quality is terrible. It's going back. I will NOT be accepting another 6600 - I need a phone that actually works.

Nokia seems to have replaced usability with aesthetics

A nice-looking mobile phone that was provided to me to replace my buggy Nokia 6500 classic. I'm not a fan of fold phones and unfortunately, this phone has done little to make me reconsider that opinion.

It has some quite sleek features, like the lights on the front of the phone that light up when you get a message or you tap the front to tell the time - but the front of the phone gets dirty very quickly with finger prints.

There is a button on the side of the phone to deactivate the magnet which holds the phone shut and allows it to glide smoothly open. This feature is great - when it works. Approximately half of the time it doesn't work, and you get a message saying "Open fold manually" - the fact an error message exists for this suggests Nokia was well aware of this fault when they produced the phone. This wouldn't be a major issue, except for the fact that there is no other way to open the phone in this situation except stick your nails in between the phone (not easy without fingernails) and force it open, which I'm sure causes all kinds of damage.

I've also had a ridiculous amount of software faults, including:

When the phone is switched off, the clock stops - so when you switch it back on 2 or 3 hours later it is still running from the time you switched it off.

Very slow running and often freezes - needing to be switched on and off again several times, particularly when opening messages.

It can behave very erratically, and I should really send mine back, but as this is the 4th phone I have had in 6 months from my network provided, and the 2nd version of this model, I simply can't be bothered!

Although it's a nice phone when it works, I'd avoid it - Nokia seems to have replaced usability with aesthetics in the last few models it has produced, and none of these attempts have been successful!
