Encountered problems within two months of purchase
Encountered problems within two months of purchase. If the slide function is shut too quickly, the phone loses all saved settings. My mobile also no longer recognises that there is a simcard inserted. Have had phone with two different networks, and both times encountered problems with signal, which has turned out to be a manufacturing fault. Overall, very disappointed with this model.
not bad value for money, but I suspect there are better phones out there
This is an easy to use phone but it does have a few flaws. Firstly, I have this phone in black, not silver, and after a few months, it's started looking a little out of date and cumbersome. The brushed aluminium is hardwearing, but the rubber trim along the bottom of the screen has started to wear off.
There are some great features - for a relatively low priced phone, it has a radio, MP3 player, camera, video etc. However, the internet connection is unreliable (I don't think it's a network issue, I had no problems with my previous phone) and I've had problems with some of the number keys not working when it's just been switched on, though that isn't an issue when the phone has been on for a few minutes.
Overall, it's not bad value for money, but I suspect there are better phones out there
often freezes meaning a complete restart is needed
I've tried two of these models now, both with the same results. It often freezes meaning a complete restart is needed. The text is exceptionally slow. The memory card in the back is an excellent feature if only the phone would recognise it, which it often doesn't. I like Nokias but this particular brand isn't good for those of us with quick fingers. Too slow for my liking.
after 10 months of having it I am on my fourth 6500 slide
This phone looks good, however after 10 months of having it I am on my fourth 6500 slide as the others have all frozen never to be revived again. My latest one also is starting to show signs of that it is on its way out. The camera is also very slow and only really any good for portraits or still scenes.
reliable Nokia with good logical menus and easy to use features
The phone is a typical reliable Nokia with good logical menus and easy to use features. Unfortunately the battery life is poor, especially if you are using bluetooth. Also if you keep the phone in your pocket the screen is easily scratched. I would consider Nokia again, but not this model
a good looking, well-designed and easy-to-use phone
This is a good looking, well-designed and easy-to-use phone. Although it has lots of features, I chose it because of the simplicity of making calls and texts using a Nokia. The buttons are well-sized, the menus easy to understand and overall the usability is high, even for someone that doesn't like to get too involved with their technology.
I find the Organiser section very useful as it includes an alarm clock, calendar, calculator etc. I know its all pretty standard stuff, but Nokia's just seem easier to use than other brands I have had. The handset comes with a number of add-ons (headphones, pc suite etc) all of which are also easy to use.
My only complaint with it is that sometimes the handset 'freezes' and then 'crashes' for no apparent reason, which is quite annoying. In 6 months of ownership it has done this about 5 times. There do not seem to be any lasting effects however, and the phone has always simply switched back on afterwards. It is for this minor snag that I have given it a 4 overall.
the best 'all rounder' mobile phone I have ever used
This is probably one of the best 'all rounder' mobile phones I have ever used. It has all the standard features you'd expect from a modern mobile, but with a 5.0 megapixel camera with video capability and the fact it can be very eaisly sync'd with your email account means that it is a real joy to use. A great phone and thoroughly recommended.
really good features, memory and the camera takes brilliant photos
I have got the Nokia 6500 slide. This is the best phone I have ever had, I do like Nokia phones, its got really good features, memory and the camera takes brilliant photos with its 3.2 megapixels, the photos come out really clear. Great phone all round.
pretty good phone that is brilliant value
This is a great looking phone, the metal is really sleek and it feels quality, the slide is nice and smooth and the buttons feel positive. The screen is bright and clear. It has all your usual features with a pretty good camera.
The bad points are that during talk/charge it gets very hot, the battery doesnt last long at all (mine lasts less then a day after a few months), and its a little on the heavy side. All in all a pretty good phone that is brilliant value.
phone is good has great features and looks great
This phone is good has great features and looks great. It has memory card which can store a good amount of music and pictures. Although me and my friends found the mobile does tend to freeze and go blank at times, whether Nokia have fixed this problem since I bought it I'm not sure.
There is not a lot I can say except that I love it
This is one of the best mobile phones I have ever owned. There is not a lot I can say except that I love it.
There is nothing bad I can say about it either. I love the design of the phone. The slide mechanism is one of the easiest ever. The screen is larger than other phones I have used previously which makes it easier to see. It has a huge memory for music which is one of my favourite hobbies. Plus it has a cable to attach it to a pc or laptop so I can have internet access anywhere, even without the cable.
Nokia has always been my favourite make of phone and I will always be loyal to Nokia.
great sound and colour, simple slide opener
The best phone I have ever had, great sound and colour, simple slide opener. The features are fab, great camera & video. All in all the best one yet. Its stainless steel case helps protect it if dropped, only problem with the case is, don't leave it in the sun as it gets very hot.
like the radio but there is no means of sending the radio to output
Still quite a new phone to me but at the moment I'm quite happy with the phone and all the features. I especially like the radio but there is no means of sending the radio to output, it has to be listened to through the earphones.
At a glance I thought there was a lot of games on the phone but with further investigation most of them are free trials that last for around 30 seconds then you have to purchase or rent the game.
lost all the pictures I had taken in the 3 months so was greatly disappointed
I got this phone about 3 months ago, I was very pleased with its great looks, included 256mb memory card, great camera quailty and Nokia's easy to use interface. Problems started first with the sound, I find it very hard to hear anyone and someone I know with this phone is having the same problem.
My memory card also corrupted the data so I lost all the pictures I had taken in the 3 months so was greatly disappointed. Also the freezing and turning off automatically. It may just be unlucky on my part that I got one of the duff ones. The looks etc are amazing so I give it 3 out of 5.
contrary to many peoples reviews the battery life is outstanding
Despite many bad reviews of this phone, I actually find it one of the best Nokia's that I have encountered so far. It is so simple to use, it comes with many different features and the camera is excellent.
Many people say that the phone 'locks up' amid writing a text or using the camera, but this has not once happened to me. The only downside is that the green & red buttons (call & hang-up) need to be pressed pretty firmly in order to respond, but I've really found that this is the only problem & it's not exactly a major issue.
The loudspeaker is very clear & the calender option on the background of the phone is extremely useful & helps to prevent forgetting appointments and other important tasks.
Also contrary to many peoples reviews the battery life is outstanding. It lasts for up to 4 days even if I use the phone frequently, it's a great buy & I would highly recommend it.
has an excellent speaker for listening to music
This is a good phone and Nokia make nice phones. Only a couple of problems though.
If you happen to take the back cover off when switched on it seems that you loose your wallpaper image and also it seems to revert back to the traditional Nokia ringtone and sometimes the screen flickers but not to often.
It has an excellent speaker for when you listen to music. Good phone and i'll buy Nokia's always, always have done.
poor connection between the back cover and the detector inside
A brilliant phone containing all the features of the more expensive Nokia phones. The only glitch is that it's often resetting itself due to a poor connection between the back cover and the detector inside. This can however get easily fixed with a piece of silverfoil.
easy to transfer files and the internet on the phone is excellent
The phone is so easy to use and the design is really stylish. It is easy to transfer files and the internet on the phone is excellent. You can have shortcuts so that you don't have to look completely through your menu which is great.
It has expandable memory in the form of Micro Sd whcih is good so that you can put plenty of media files on. The sound quality is great, the stainless steel case is great too as I am prone to dropping it and it is scratch proof.
supermodel of a phone has caused me more headaches than its worth
Firstly, your probably wondering, how can a phone that has scored 5 on both design and features score such a bad score? Well this is purely because this sexy slick supermodel of a phone has caused me more headaches than its worth for the 3 months that I have had it.
The phone itself has great easy to use applications but it does not read off a memory card very well and any set display screen or ringtone resets itself to the Nokia original setting. Why is this? I have worked out that it has a loose connection and cannot read from the card. Try for yourself but I have not found a phone that words adequately.
more than happy with the style, durability, functions
I had an upgrade with this phone 4 months ago and have been more than happy with the style, durability, functions and find it easy to use. I have the black slide model and it looks very stylish - many people comment on this model. I tend to always go for Nokia's and based on this phone will continue to do so.
Once again another good phone from Nokia
Great phone, long battery life meaning no need to charge it every day. Good extra's like convertor and games, one down side though is if you don't lock the keypad you are quite likely to phone someone you don't mean to. I wasn't supplied with a memory card for the phone but not a bad thing. Once again another good phone from Nokia.
Looks good, good features, but the battery only lasts for two days for me
Bought this phone because its looks really great and has all the functionality you could want.
However, the battery only lasts for two days for me, it has been sent back for repair but I have been told it is fully working. This makes it totally useless to me given when I am able to charge it. My next phone, I'll be going back to a Sony Ericsson.
attractive and stylish, and very quick to use
The phone itself is attractive and stylish, and very quick to use, however three members of my family have this handset and the same faults always seem to occur.
The amount of times the phone freezes when you play music or attempt to text and the mysterious way you can loose signal and unless you turn it off for 5 hours, the signal dosnt come back and more so the most irritating, when you dont receive messages for days and all of a sudden you have like 10 missed calls and 20 texts. (*this could be a network issue)
Robust with a nice design, but perhaps lacking in features
Excellent simple design and easy to use, impressive, however features are lacking as it essentially is a repackaged N73. Had the phone for 3 months now and no problems so far, the picture quality could be better but the metal casing means it can take a bit of knocking around and not fall apart.
The Nokia 6500 Slide is a good buy
The Nokia 6500 slide has a good design with a range of features that helps to make this phone a good buy. Although it does seem to freeze at times if the phone is playing music and you recieve a text, whether this happens with all the Nokia handsets I,m not sure, may just be my handset, other than this the Nokia 6500 Slide is a good buy.
Easy to use, many features, can be enhanced further
A very business like phone, suitable for those who need to maintain a sleek and professional image. Easy to use, many features, can be enhanced further.
Slim and lightweight which can be good oviously but can make a product flimsy and easy to break, but yet neither happens with this mobile, yes you fear the worst if dropped but minimal damage, scratches but nothing major.
Overall a good little phone that I would not be without
Excellent phone, hardwaring, sturdy, does not feel tinny or cheap.
All the features are easy to use and the only problem I have with it is that the sound quality when making a call is poor - not an ideal feature of a phone, hence the slighly lower than excellent rating.
The software is easy to update and I have not had any problems with software crashes that have been reported elsewhere.
Overall a good little phone that I would not be without. I use it in a corporate environment for synchronising with diaries etc. For those of us who do not want to go down the Blackberry route it is a perfect office phone.
So simple to use and has all the functions needed on a mobile phone
The phone is very compact and so simple to use, it has all the functions needed on a phone, the obvious such as sms, mms and other features like email.
The phone is easy to navigate through the simple menu which takes you to things like the media player, gallery, organiser, applications and so on.
It sports a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash and there are many settings like sepia, negative etc. The phone overall is extremely good and well recommended
A very good phone with a couple of minor annoyances, recommended
I was really impressed with the Nokia 6500 slide. It looks great and has all the features you would expect from a mobile phone.
I particularly like the camera, which is excellent, and the number of messages it can store - 1700 and counting! Also, the music player is great - as good as if not better than the one Sony Ericsson offers. The customizable shortcut bar at the bottom of the home screen is a fantastic idea, too.
The main downside to the phone is that you can only set one alarm at a time. Also, you have to shut down each Java application in order to do anything else (for example, if I get a text whilst playing on a game, I can't read the text until I have exited the game).
There was a more serious problem with my phone - a month or so ago it stopped working properly. Every 2 minutes it would reset itself, and a number of people were not able to text or ring me (including my girlfriend!), but after about a week it just started working again and has been absolutely fine since.
All in all, a very good phone with a couple of minor annoyances. Definitely recommended.
Sound from the speaker is rather distorted at times
Good phone for a middle aged teacher who is trying to get street cred.
Easy to use as are all Nokia's, only thing which I find irritating is the sound from the speaker is rather distorted at times, previous phones have been a lot clearer. However, it is just a slight annoyance and nothing to put anyone off buying this model.
Headphone jack is actually a micro-jack which is a pain
The 6500 slide is a very nice phone indeed, I like the size compared to my old phone the Nokia N91. The camera is very good, better than some 5.0 megapixel ones.
My only real gripe is the headphone jack is actually a micro-jack which is a pain for me as I prefer to use my own headphones (I got around this by buying a micro to mini jack converter from ebay).
It works very well with my 4Gb card, so plenty of storage if you get the card. All in all not bad phone at all
Nokia 6500, smart and user friendly
The Nokia 6500 Slide is a smart looking phone, which has a strong solid feel to it, using Nokia's easy lay out to find your way around is easy as ever, the camera is excellent too, however the phone has a horrible habit of cutting out when receiving calls, but I guess this could be a network issue.
Freezes regularly and the screen flickers
I dont think that this phone is quite ready for public sale, especially since this is my third handset. It freezes regularly, the screen flickers (sometimes resets the wallpaper randomly), the buttons dont always work and I have to slide the phone open and closed again to get them to work, a bit more tweeking and it would be a very good phone.
However I do very much like the look of it, the camera quality and the internet. The battery life is also generally good if you aren't facebooking all day.
Brilliant design as always with Nokia
Brilliant design as always with Nokia so easy to use, bit of trouble with the speaker going distorted, but was replaced the next day. Looks stylish although a bit of weight on it, so much better than my old Sony.
Excellent features including wap Internet access and bluetooth which nowadays is a must. Large screen making navigation very easy
Not dissapointed with the 6500 Slide from Nokia
Nokia mobile phones are always a safe bet when deciding which mobile to buy in my opinion. I have owned a few and I,m not dissapointed with the 6500 Slide from Nokia.
It is pretty stylish aided handsomely by the slide feature when answering calls and it is fairly lightweight. I had no problems navigating through the various options due to the quality of the screen, texting and entering contacts is a breeze and the camera takes really nice pictures.
nice looking and well equiped mobile
The Nokia 6500 Slide is a really nice looking and well equiped mobile, easy to use, great features, not something to get bored of quickly. Its easy working text messages screen is great it takes just seconds to send a text now as the phone lets your store fav text numbers. Overall great phone.
Bit more bulky that thought
This phone is a little bit bulkier than I expected - there are definately smaller phones about. It's pretty fat and then you slide the thing open and it's long and fat. The buttons on the front are pretty ugly as well.
Other than that though, have no problems with the phone itself which works fine and is easy enough to use. Annoying features are that sliding the phone doesn't start/end calls.
The Nokia 6500 Slide is a good all round phone
The Nokia 6500 Slide is a good all round phone, in comparison with the N95 the 6500 is much slimmer and more solid feeling.
Excellent picture quality from the 3.2 megapixel camera, far better than the 5.0 megapixels I experienced with the N95 which is odd.
The features are very much the same as the N95 the only thing missing is the GPS navigation software,
so if you dont need the Sat Nav the 6500 Slide is a better option.
Very pleased in general
The Nokia 6500 Slide is a very nice looking phone - very pleased in general.
Great features and the camera is very good. Battery life isn't great but with all the features on the phone how can you expect the battery to last a week.
I have had Samsung, Sony Ericsson and I think Nokia win overall.
