freezing, locking and crashing
My phone doesn't light up when receiving an incoming call so I have no idea who is calling and the call answer button also decides not to answer when the phone is ringing. The lights on mine go out as soon as an outgoing call is answerd too.
The call answer button also serves as history button and is supremely sensitive once the histories are on display. I've lost count of the amount of calls I've made to the last person that text/called me without my knowing or being able to stop a connection (it's only sensitive when it wants to be)
Seriously, just putting the phone down and brushing the call answer button is enough for this to happen. Then there's the freezing, locking and crashing. It's not a good phone, it just looks good.
the phone does not light up and show the incoming calls
I got the LG GD900 as a Christmas present 2009. However now it is March 2010 and the phone is back with the retailer for fixing for the second time.
The problem is, the phone does not light up and show the incoming calls so I can't see who is calling me! This is the same when i'm calling out, the phone doesn't leave the lights on. I spoke to customer service tech in L.G and they have never heard of this.
The retailer first updated the software in the phone and it worked for about a day and went again and I didn't touch any of the settings. Overall I love the phone but upset that this happens.
I also have the same problems as others in this forum, screen freezes then starts up like it was turned off, I can live with this as i'm sure all phones have some little problems.
Camera is not as good as an 8mp should be
Enjoy using this phone, however can be a bit slow and often freezes. Built in memory could be larger and photo gallery could do with different viewing options. Camera is not as good as an 8mp should be, picture and video quality is pretty poor, with the applications taking some time to open. Overall an enjoyable phone, would recommend it.
No smartphone but if your after reliability and style
I recently bought this phone after owning a Nokia N97 for a month and got rid as it was one of the worse smart phones on the market. I will never buy a Nokia ever again.
I decided to go for something a bit more simple but looks good. Never had an LG before, I will say it takes a while to get uses to but after after a couple of days I was uses to it.
I found the phone fairly reliable, the only problem I've had with it is when I'm writing a text sometimes the phone go's blank and starts up like its just been switch on. It doesn't do it all the time just now again but I can live with it. Justed owning a N97 for a month, it makes this phone a dream in comparison.
In a nut shell the LG is no smartphone but if your after reliability and style from a phone go for it, I'm happy with mine.
I instantly fell in love with it
I chose this phone entirely on looks. I hadn't ever had a touch screen before so I wasn't sure what to expect with the usability of the phone but I instantly fell in love with it.
The clear part of the phone looks brilliant and suprisingly is easy to clean and doesn't show up finger prints. The screen on the phone is very big but as this is the full size of the phone and you can use all the applications on the phone without having to slide open the phone it is a reasonable size.
The pixel quality is very high and the screen is nice and bright. The light however on the keypad does go off very quickly after you have finished typing and I cant find a way to extend this which is annoying.
The camera quality is very high and although I haven't tried it, it is capable of accepting upto a 32mb micro SD card which is massive. This phone really can be an music player and digital camera all in one.
I was advised not to buy this phone if I was a 'texter' because it is difficult to text quickly on touchscreens. I disagree with this. The layout of the keys on the clear slide out pad is the same as a keypad phone so if you have a general understanding of where the keys should be I think that you will have no problems. You have to be a bit more precise when using the qwerty keyboards so that can be a bit more difficult.
The only problem really that I have come into contact with is scrolling through things, I cant seem to make it move when I want it to and as far as I want it to. I have now been shown a technique that works and more important than that works every time so it appears it was just me and not the phone. The action is more of a click and drag rather than a general sweep in the direction you want.
A feature that I am suprised that I like as I thought I wouldn't is the fact that the screen and keys are actually heat sensitive rather than touch sensitive so you cant for example use a pen instead of your finger. I thought this would be annoying however I have found that it stops the phone being navigated around by car keys and the like in your handbag or pocket.
All in all I really like this phone, I dont think this is a phone for people who don't use mobiles much as there is a lot to get used to. On the other hand if you are a mobile regular and are looking for something new this phone is really stylish and has all the gadgets.
