Sometimes there are issues with the track ball

Excellent mobile! Sometimes there are issues with the track ball, though that has been replaced in the newer model. The Blackberry messsenger is genius, saves on your mobile credit and having to top up. The design is really targeted at the younger audience compared to the old Blackberry's.

having emails delivered straight to your phone is really handy

On the whole I'm pleased with the phone, however given the chance again I don't think I'd get a Blackberry. If having a good camera on your phone is important to you then I'd recommend a Sony Ericsson cybershot phone (I will be getting one next time) as the camera on this really isn't great. However having emails delivered straight to your phone is really handy and I do like the design of the phone.

I'd recommend the phone, depending on what you want out of it.

Very easy to use and stylish

I love this phone but will be upgrading to one of the newer versions with the track pad as the roller ball does tend to get stuck. Very easy to use and stylish, excellent for social networking like facebook as the application that you can download is brilliant. Also love the messenger function far better than texting.

Everyone should own a blackberry!

Everyone should own a blackberry! They have a slim, smart, geeky exterior and are filled with gadgets and treats. You are in touch with all your worlds all day long, from facebook to email and even its clever instant messaging service. Its easy to use qwerty keyboard and large screen makes everything that bit easier. I can see why these phones are becoming increasingly popular, they are a joy to own.

it has been completely reliable

I have had this phone now for 6 months and up until now it has been completely reliable. The Blackberry applications are brilliant and a lot of them are free or have free trials. Although not as good as the iPhone apps they have useful ones such as internet banking, calorie counters, football scores and a flash light.

One thing I found very useful is that when the battery is low the phone shuts down lots of the applications to save as much battery as possible so that you can make and receive calls right down to the last bit of battery.

The phone has started to freeze a lot and the roller ball often sticks. My boyfriend has had 3 replacements of this phone because of the rollerball sticking. I took my battery out to unfreeze my phone and when I turned it back on it had wiped my memory card.

Other than this I have nothing but praise about this phone, Blackberry messenger and access to social networking sites are fantastic. I especially like the way that facebook events and birthdays link in with the phones diary and contacts to give you updates and reminders straight to the phone.

I also like that you can set a time for the phone to switch off and on, so that you can save battery at night.

The only downfall to this phone is that it does not have 3G which often makes browsing on the net quite slow, however compared with the BOLD which does have 3G I would still choose this due to the compact and smaller size.

Overall a great phone that can be updated and improved often when updates come out.

attachments can be downloaded with ease and edit and save documents

It is an ideal business phone, attachments can be downloaded with ease and edit and save documents. It is user friendly and the keyboard is easy to use making typing simple. The picture and video quality is of a high standard.

Social networking such as Facebook is easy to use. The Facebook contacts sync with your address book automatically which is a very helpful feature.

Could do with some better apps

Its a good phone overall. Very easy to use with its keyboard. The only problem I have with the phone is that the apps world is in dollars and there aint many good ones on there compared to the iPhone. Could do with some better apps. Overall it is a very stylish phone.

the browser is so slow I have to give up sometimes

Not very happy, the browser is so slow I have to give up sometimes when checking flights and call a premium rate to check flights by and it gets an annoying when the phone is busy doing something a little black clock appears on the screen which sometimes stops there and you can't do anything apart from removing the battery, gutted I have another 15months of this.

perfect for managing all your business email on the move

The Blackberry Curve is perfect for managing all your business email on the move. The phone is also adaptable to your lifestyle with the ability to highlight the features and apps you use most. The camera at 3.2mp is also decent and the video feature is excellent.

ensure it is kept within its case as the silver frame easily peels/cracks

Great looking phone even if a little chunky, easy to set up email. Durable although you need to ensure it is kept within its case as the silver frame easily peels/cracks. Does not contain a memory card for photographs so need to use email. Overall good sturdy phone

was able to import my address contacts from my work outlook

Having purchased the Blackberry for work purposes I was unsure how it would perform and how easy it would be to use, I am not technically minded and wanted something that could do the job without any hard work.

The email was easy to set up and I was able to add a ringtone I would recognise, the sms was the same and I was able to import my address contacts from my work outlook which gave me all my customers names, addresses, contact numbers, email address and note all at the touch of a key.

Companies I had registered in my area but had never spoken too could be clearly seen on the screen and a log is kept showing who called, when and if you have returned the call.

The download facility to the Blackberry software allows you to maintain the data easily and it has a very good camera/video facility. I had a little problem setting up the answer facility but apart from that I can't fault it.

I love the simplicity of this phone

I love the simplicity of this phone; it is like using a hand help computer. It can, however, be a little complicated when something goes wrong. which thankfully hasnt happened to me a great many times. I would find it very hard to go back to normal handsets now.

This phone is excellent, I thought it would be too chunky but its not. I like the idea of the keyboard as it is so easy to use for text messages. I took a few pictures and the quality is excellent, just like using a camera. I would recommend this phone to anyone.

Very impressed with this

Very impressed with this, a big improvement on original Curve. Would recommend this phone especially its email facilities for anyone on the move. The Sat Nav is excellent but sore on the battery so should always be used in a car with cigaratte lighter charger.

having it for two weeks I am now officially in love with it

I've never had a Blackberry, after having it for two weeks I am now officially in love with it, it's soo perfect I now enjoy having a phone. I use it as a diary, I cannot live without it, it's really easy to use and with it's qwerty keypad makes texting really easy. First few days its hard to text but once used to it you begin to wonder why I didn't get the phone any earlier!!

I think to full utilise the phone its best to get a monthly plan with ultimate web browsing, so you recieve emails to your phone like a regular message, making emailing easy as texting and its free!!

Everything about it has quality including the loud speaker, if you put a call on loudspeaker the sound quality is really good not only that the person won't realise their on loudspeaker as there is not echos-how amazing is that!! Great phone and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Once used to it, its a must have

It was hard to start using the Blackberry Curve 8900 as it has so many features.

However once you find your way around this blackberry, you will never look back. It has amazing technology and is extremely handy for anyone, not just a business phone.

A must have!!!

I don't think I'll be looking back now

I love my phone, I've gone from using an N-Range from Nokia, Sony K850i and the Tocco and I don't think I'll be looking back now. The querty keyboard is really easy to use, the use of facebook and emails is fast. The only draw back would be the add on's are all in dollars and the camera even although it's 3.2 there are not many features with it.

This handset is stylish, easy to use and functional

This handset is stylish, easy to use and functional. The ability to access various applications at the push of a button makes this phone suitable for business users or the likes of young, sociable people. The vast range of features such as widgets including FaceBook and Twitter aswell as TeleNav, Blackberry Messenger, Push Email, 3.2mp camera and much more makes this more than just a phone! After using a Blackberry I would never revert back to a normal phone again!

hopping on board the Blackberry wagon was the smartest thing I've done

Blackberry has traditionally been associated with busy business people. But luckily for people like me, they seem to have realised that their developments have a much wider useage.

The Curve 8900 features all you need for the business side of life - calendar and contacts with the option to sync online, personalised email address plus the ability to instantly receive emails from any address you already own, and all the other tricks you're used to form a RIM phone.

Add in things like wi-fi, gps, the slowly developing Blackberry games scene and the selection of extra tweaks you can download from the phone itself, and you start to see why a geek like me loves it.

The qwerty keyboard is small - it's made for slender fingers so if you're a bit stubby you might want to look at the Storm, perhaps. But if your fingers fit, with a little bit of practice you'll be racing along, happy to write entire novels on your phone.

I have had some trouble getting MMS messages - according to my network there's often a problem between their servers and the 8900, but with the wi-fi option, that's not a big problem - I can just connect to my home (or nearest) network, and download it in a flash.

The camera is only 3.2 megapixels, which seems a little disappointing for such a high-end phone. But the large and superfine options actually make up for that by giving you a crisp, clear, detailed photo - though it does, of course, take up a lot more space so be careful when trying to MMS superfine photos - though of course, you can email them in about 3 seconds.

The Blackberry browser is good. I've tried the mini Opera version for the phone, and actually the pre-installed one worked faster and more efficiently, and gives me the option to avoid the time it takes to download images and load java, so after compression, and with wi-fi, you really don't need a data plan either.

Alright, I am a gamer, and I am a tiny bit disappointed with the lack of games available - but they are there, and there's more on the way, and although the selection of free games is actually quite pitiful, let's just say I've found myself tempted into more than one purchase.

The customisation is about usual - though the choice of background pictures is tiny, the choices of ringtones for every possible feature and type of message (sms, mms, email, voice mail, system, push, to name but a few) took me a whole day to get through!

It is of course fully compatible with things like Facebook (though their app is, frankly, rubbish) and all the usual Google tools. And there's a lot of other widgets - I have the weather forecast on my menu screen, for example. And a bible.

I have been severely disappointed in the complete lack of free office software. The only one I've found has been far too expensive for light use. But, between the memo pad and the email, I've not done so badly.

And, last but not least, of course, the micro sd slot makes for lots of extra storage space.

I could go through every other feature on the phone, but I assume you get the point by now. It's got some niggles. But considering Blackberry are really only just entering into the general consumer market, they've done very well - and I've definitely been converted.

Given a little more time, great things will be done with the Blackberry - and while right now there are other fancier phones that look quite tempting, I think hopping on board the Blackberry wagon now was the smartest thing I've done in a long while.

you definitely get your moneys worth

This phone has everything, it may look complicated to begin with because of the keypad but it's so easy to use when you become used to it, I recommend this phone to anyone, and although it's quite pricey, you definitely get your moneys worth!

You can personalise a Blackberry by downloading different apps, the only downfall to this amazing phone would be the battery life, I usually charge mine every night for full battery.

design is nice, the expandable apps makes it a close rival for the iPhone

Blackberry's are becomming increasing popular, however, the hype is very much just that - hype. In my experience most people use free email accounts typically hotmail and this proves difficult if not impossible to set up using a Blackberry.

You can use the browser to log in to view mail but you will struggle with push email. The design is nice, the expandable apps makes it a close rival for the iPhone in some sense but in my opinion its not all its lived up to be.

Excellent for text due to qwerty keyboard, however, not enough to warrant a £350-£400 pay as you go price point, and much more user friendly phones available at the £35/month contract price point aswell.

can't believe how user friendly and easy to navigate this is

Having recently upgraded to this Blackberry I was a little afraid that it would be too complicated for me. How wrong I was! I can't believe how user friendly and easy to navigate this is. Definately the right choice for me, I now have 3 e-mail addresses set up to this mobile, and the blackberry messenger is fantastic.

would highly reccomend the Curve as a phone suitable for work and play

I have found the BlackBerry Curve an incredible mobile phone. As someone who uses e-mail frequently, it is easy to use and a breeze to reply/collate/edit e-mails. With the docs application (while limited because it's just a trial version) I am able to do everything I require without having to log in to a computer.

As for entertainment, the sound quality of the music player is excellent (although the speaker is a little oddly placed at the back of the phone). The video player is also very easy to use and the screen is, while small, crystal clear.

I would highly reccomend the BlackBerry Curve as a phone suitable for work and play!

Good all round business features which make it an invaluable handset

Excellent reliable handset that does exactly what it should do. Good all round business features which make it an invaluable handset. Nice extra features include the sat nav feature which has replaced my TOM TOM and the to go series of software which allows you to edit Word, Excel and Powerpoint on the move,
only critism is the size of the keys - takes some getting used to is all.
