With lots of white snow on the ground here in the UK at the moment, it seems an opportune moment for Nokia to give official confirmation to the Nokia Lumia 800 in White. Available around the end of February/beginning of March, the White Lumia 800 is the same inside as previous versions of the device, same 1.4 GHz processor, 3.7 inch AMOLED ClearBlack display and same Windows Phone software. Nokia state that the process of selection meant working through hundreds of pigments to find the 'perfect white'. The colour is embedded into the polycarbonate body, which means it should remain a vibrant...

Nokia has released details of their earnings from Q4 2011, showing heavy losses of 1.07 billion Euro, contrasting to a profit of 745 million Euro in Q4 2010. The overall number of Nokia smartphones also declined, with 19.6 million units sold during the last quarter of 2011, a decline in sales of 31 percent compared to the year before. History of Nokia phones

From the beginning of GSM handsets Nokia battled Motorola their US based rivals to establish themselves as the world number one when it came to the manufacturing of mobile handsets. They continue to innovate focusing on reliability and usability.

Nokia's early successful mobile phones included the block designed Nokia 1101 followed by the Nokia 2100 series handsets. They then went on to develop popular phones including the Nokia 2110 which was seen as the first true business mobile phone and the Nokia 6310 which was one of the most popular mobile phones ever and is still sought after today. Followed shortly by the so called 'Banana' phone - the Nokia 8110, made famous by its appearance in The Matrix series of films.

They then went on to release the first WAP enabled mobile phone handset - the Nokia 7110 followed by the Nokia 6650 their first 3G enabled handset offering greater mobile internet speeds than WAP devices.

2001 brought about the Nokia 9210 Communicator their first ever Symbian operated handset. Further innovation then saw the release of the first European camera mobile phone - the Nokia 7650 handset.

With Symbian being such a success because of the ability to install additional software onto a handset, they developed the E-series their enterprise range and multimedia range the N-series to enhance their Symbian mobile phone range. Nokia went on to develop the Xpress Music range of MP3 phones that focuses solely on being a music playing device as well as a mobile phone - the range debuting their first ever touch screen handset.

In May 2009 Nokia opened their Ovi store where Nokia users can download and install applications, upload images and video, access Nokia maps and backup their important settings to further enhance their mobile phone experience.

Nokia will continue to develop and innovate the latest enhancements at the forefront of the mobile phone market.
