I purchased this phone when it first came out, I chose it because it was meant to be the best at the time. I wish I have go for the iPhone instead! It's a good phone but since the new iPhone has come out this phone has become obsolete in my opinion. This is just the way with new technology there's always something new coming out.
I find the Internet functions very slow to use and its near impossible to get important information when on the move. The apps are nowhere near as good as they could be either. The camera is great. After a few weeks of getting the phone the buttons that control the camera started to fail. I returned the phone and I haven't had anymore problems with the new handset since so this was most likely a one off.
The touch screen is easy to use and the stylus makes life even easier. In general it is a very easy phone to use and holds a lot of photos, music and movies. The fact that I can hold several full length movies on this phone is perfect for me as I travel on trains a lot and its great to be able to watch a movie. It is a great phone but I definitely would go for an iPhone from now on!

I've got to say this is the best phone I've ever had. This is the ultimate phone for the best web experience, texting, taking pictures and just day to day use.
The N900 has a 3.5" resistive touch display (800 x 480 resolution). I know what you must be thinking, 'resistive are you mad?!' But this is the best resistive screen I have used to date. It's so responsive it feels like you are actually using a capacitive display instead. Also watching movies is awesome with the size and resolution of the screen.
The N900 runs Maemo 5 which is a Linux based software. This is by far the best and easiest phone OS I have ever used. The best feature about Maemo is the multitasking feature; at a press of an on-screen button you can open windows and windows of applications. The phone is even so fast, you could have open 6 windows and a movie and it could still operate smoothly.
With a 5MP camera with dual LED flash the N900 takes absolutely stunning photos and video. The photos are so bright and colourful and it just feels right to take photos using this phone.
You do really get the best experience from the web on the N900, because of the addition of flash and java, you can watch video's online and even play games (all be it a bit sluggishly). But the browser is in fact lightening fast when not loading up flash video's. Because of the resistive display, you don't get the option to pinch to zoom but in fact use a strange clockwise and anti-clockwise motion to zoom in and out. That's not exactly a draw back though because it does end up becoming second nature to browsing the web on the phone.
Texting is completely different on the N900, because instead of having the normal messaging interface, you get a new chat like interface so you can see all the messages you have sent in one window enabling you to know exactly where you are in the conversation. Not to mention the slide out QWERTY keyboard which takes seconds to type out a message on instead of minutes like on normal touch screen devices.
The last thing I'm going to talk about is the size of the N900's memory, it's absolutely massive! With an internal memory of 32GB and an SD card slot, the N900's gives you more than enough of room for your music and video's.
To sum up, the Nokia N900 is more like a Internet tablet with phone capabilities rather than just a phone because of the QWERTY keyboard, browser and internal memory. But just because it's labelled as an Internet tablet doesn't mean you have to turn away from it. On the other hand, you should definitely consider this phone because it gives you more features than a normal smart phone and the QWERTY keyboard and Maemo OS is a joy to use.

Got this phone on contract over 12 months ago and think it is a good phone. Slide phone with a QWERTY keyboard. Has a large screen so video is good to watch and pictures are easy to see. Quite a good music player with the added FM transmitter so no need for cables to transmit audio to your car stereo while driving. Quite a few apps to download also for this phone. Use this phone every day and it is good. Only complaint is with the battery life, with having a large screen it uses battery power fairly quickly. No other complaints. Would recommend this phone.

The Nokia N900 comes with a full functional qwerty keypad that is easily accessible, which also allows the user to view the entire screen while they are on the net or even IM. It has a large storage space of 32GB which will allow you to store your favourite music and movies. This gadget is not only just a phone, it is a portable internet tablet, works on 3G networks and Wi-Fi too.

Major disappointment when I finally got the phone. Only other Nokia phone I have ever had was an N95 which was excellent and you could control completely in every setting but I am amazed at how few settings this N900 actually has.
It is so limited that I actually thought I was missing some of the OS. Nothing for Sound quality, no inbox/outbox/drafts in texts, no mms, orientation is only for phone mode-everything else in landscape (which is annoying)
Battery is next to useless-you have to turn everything off and allow the irritating 'power save' to lock the phone every few seconds just to last a day if lucky-and that is not heavy usage!! (not a phone I would like to be stuck with in an emergency).
The touch screen is ok but you have to hit it just right to get it to do what you want which is no where near as responsive and precise as the iphone. Nokia PC Suite and OVI Suite do not support this phone-stupid!! (I checked that with Nokia direct when I could not get them working).
Speaker volume is ok 'ish' but not that clear, web browsing ok but certainly nothing exceptional. Was suprised at how few file types it could handle, I could chuck anything at the N95 and it played it, this thing was very choosy which I did not expect.
Could go on but overall the phone was a huge let down given all the hype and big price tag. I had held off getting a new contract for this phone but have now sent it back and getting an iPhone or HTC.
