Cracking Phone, I bought this beacause it was on offer to replace my old phone and I am very pleased. A basic phone, with a fairly decent snapshot camera (3 mega pixel) and good MP3 player - nice to see a real 3.5 mm headphone socket. Slide action works well, especially the dual slide - down for keyboard and up to access all MP3 music player functions and to reveal the bang & olfison speaker system. The B&O speakers sound good (as mobile phone speakers go) and are quite usable. Calls clear and battery life is good although can take quite a while to quick charge.

Overall the Samsung F400 is a stylish and sleek looking mobile phone. It has an easy to use MP3 player, colour screen, easy slide feature, simple menus and a 3.0 megapixel camera which produces pictures that look better than your average 3.0 megapixel camera phone.
The only downside of this excellent phone is that keeping it looking as good as it is, isn't so easy. The phone scratches easily and as it is a sliding phone and not a flip phone, when you scratch it, that's usually across the screen area. Scratching or scuffing occurs, no matter how careful you are, and viewing the screen with scuff marks on it, especially in lighter areas, becomes very difficult.
If the phone had a scratch resistant screen or a brighter screen to combat the visability issues when the screen inevitably does get scratched, this phone would be ideal. The built in micro sd feature allows for hours of music, videos and photographs. The internet works quickly and well and overall this is a brilliant phone, with one minor flaw that only Samsung or a good phone case can overcome.

I've had the F400 for about a year now and I can safely say that this phone has great durability, cant remember how many times I kept dropping it at the gym, and yet it came out with only a few scratches.
The F400 has a great sleek design and the Bang & Olufsen speakers are of amazing quality, however the volume level is not as high. The iPod wheel that has been incorporated into this phone makes scrolling so much faster. The phone has great backgrounds and themes such as a live background of Big Ben that continuously changes as morning becomes night.
The phone does have some fallbacks, for example it lacks many of the latest technology phone features, such as the fitness application. If your one of those people that like a compact, small phone then this is not for you, the F400 is much bigger and thicker then the latest smaller phones on the market.
If your someone whos looking for a simple phone with a great look and standard features with amazing high quality speakers then this is for you.

Obtained the phone in a sale at a silly price. It has replaced a Samsung U600 which was driving me to distraction because the touch sensitive buttons were a pain (always making calls when not intending to) and I was unable to use my own headphones when listening to the music player/radio.
The features & sound quality on this phone are superior to the U600. The sound quality is the best that I have heard from a mobile phone but it is still no match for a dedicated mp3 player (Sony).
Fortunately, I don't use the camera facility on mobile phones very often because this is the one area where the F400 is decidedly lacking. If a good camera on a mobile is important to you then give the F400 a miss.
All in all a very good mobile if you require very good sound quality but don't require the camera function.

Overall a very good phone enhanced by the excellent audio quality provided by the B&O speakers. Usability is compromised slightly with an ultra sensitive scroll wheel but otherwise graphically very good. One major downfall is the susceptibility of the screen to scratch, it doesn't take a lot.
