Having previously owned a Nokia that wasn't as splashproof as promised, I tried the M110. To its credit, the cover does appear to be sufficiently water resistant. However the firmware is not as good as the Nokia's - I think they have tried too hard to be different to the detriment of usability. Also, I can't see how to set it to ring and vibrate at the same time, it seems to be one or the other.

Very good phone in terms of applications, usability and design, however about three weeks into owning this phone it seemed to turn itself off without warning throughout the day which is just infuriating.
I was given a replacement phone which did the same, so I am not sure if this is a fault within the phone or I was unlucky. Without this issue (and it was quite sporadic so did have some time when it was working fine) I would definintely recommend!

I bought this phone as I required a basic phone that could stand up to being dropped, sat on and generally abused. It does well on that score apart from the fact my toddler managed to pick off one of the keys; it still works but just doen't look as pretty.
I don't need fancy features (I do realise that my idea of fancy is most others idea of basic). It does everything I want it to. I found it slightly less easy to navigate around the menus than my previous phone which was a Nokia 'Builders' phone. Battery life is very good.

This phone is better than the sum of its parts. Its a usable size, great battery life, I charge mine once a week and mostly good buttons and navigation. It has reasonably good looks in a no-nonsense sort of way.
For a reliable phone for outdoor sports use or in workshops its build quality and rubber trim are reassuring. The keyboard backlighting is very good indeed.
One or two buttons are on the fiddly side but they aren't the most frequently used. Some of the menu logic is more convoluted than Nokia and there isn't a great deal of choice on ringtones etc. Ringtones could be louder, but at least the onboard speaker phone is good and clear.
The display is plenty bright enough for daylight though is an old technology (not always a bad thing).
Onboard memory (NO expansion card option) is tiny, though it does have GPRS WAP access. Bluetooth too.
So it's not exciting, not clever, but as a day to day reliable phone... I give it 4/5. And I've kept it.

I've owned this phone for a month or so, bought it online without having my hands on it, don't think I can live with it, for a phone that's marketed towards an active job/lifestyle, the ring volume is way too low, I keep my phone in a leg pocket and with any background noise at all I just don't hear it ring.
Also, it lacks several of the features about my previous phone (also a Samsung) that I liked.
Be aware that the camera does not have a flash, the LED that is next to the lens is purely for use as a torch, handy, but come on. Mind you, the camera's pretty poor anyway, and there's no USB to link it to a computer anyway.
I wanted a basic phone, but it's a bit too basic to be honest and that's coming from a confirmed tecno-phobe. I kept my last phone for well over 2 years, only needed a new one as sticky buttons were bugging me.
I generally choose my phones by button size - bigger the better - this one is just about ok for that.
Guess I'll have to grit my teeth and go to a shop and bore some poor assistant for an hour with all my little requirements, doh.
