As usual, Sony have come up with yet another great looking phone, which doesn't break the budget and keeps the user happy. The slightly lacking range of applications is balanced out by the phone's simplicity, while simultaneously allowing to use all the tools that we generally need: call, sms, alarm button and calendar. For someone who already uses e.g. laptop to organise themselves, this really is a handy phone as, unlike many modern phones, the odds of breaking/cracking the screen. There is a relatively poor sound quality, but then that's why most people already have mp3 players!

I received this handset as a present on my thirtieth Birthday, a good four and a half to five years ago now, and it has served me well for most of this time. I almost never used the WAP or internet function, but the once or twice I did it was relatively quick. The small form of the handset means it is easy to store in almost any pocket, the screen is clear and bright, and the sound is good for MP3 playback and call quality. The only negative I have about this phone is that the central joystick started to have problems moving downwards and would need greater and greater force, and that it was easy for the handset to mistake a forceful downward motion for a press on the stick, as when selecting an item. But this began to happen after a good three and a half to four years of use, and I was still able to make use of the phone for another twelve to eighteen months. Overall a solid phone, which survived being dropped numerous times and the actual front of the case partially coming off. Not sure a smartphone could survive that intact.

The phone has a reasonable size screen, but it is very difficult to see it in sunshine. It is very easy to use, but I do find that the buttons are rather too small (and I have thin fingers). I don't use the phone much - I just take it with me when I go out in case someone needs to ring me, which may explain why the battery lasts so long. I never send any texts and rarely use the camera (pictures lack quality). The build quality is good and it is switched on and off by pressing a small button on the top of the phone.

I bought this phone on PAYG as I've always been a fan of Sony Ericsson, this doesn't disappoint. For the price it had fairly decent games, bluetooth, decent ringtones, and most importantly a pretty good battery life. The camera isn't fantastic but for 1.3MP I can't complain. All in all a good phone.

The K510i is great in most respects, however the joystick style controller is a bit fiddly and easy to press in the wrong direction.
An individual ringtone can be set for each person in the contact list but it is only possible to set one ringtone for all text messages.
