This is another excellent phone from Alcatel. This is the sliding variety; where you slide the top half of the phone to the right to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard below. This is excellent for texting as the keys are sizable, responsive and spaced far enough apart to allow fast texting even with my clumsy fingers. This phone is much more than just a QWERTY phone. It has a variety of usual function; camera, Blue tooth, Internet connection (WAP), MP3 player, FM radio and the usual personal organiser functions like calendar and alarm clock.
The camera quality is not brilliant, but certainly acceptable if you are looking to capture a quick photo for posterity. You can also capture video clips too. The phone has a large TFT colour screen measuring approximately 1.5" by 2.2". The phone is quite heavy compared to other Alcatel phones of a similar size. I have two gripes with this phone. The back is quite difficult to remove. You have to prise it off carefully to avoid snapping it in half. You need to take the back off in order to insert a micro SD card if you want to expand the memory of the phone (currently 2MB). I like to swap my cards on a regular basis between devices so I find it a bit frustrating taking the back off the phone each time I want to remove the phone.
The battery life is good, about one week on a full charge with little to moderate usage. Except less if you play a lot of video clips or music tracks. On the whole though this is a very useful multi-function QWERTY phone. I am very happy with my purchase.

I find this phone to be ideal for someone like me who needs a slide out qwerty keyboard and not a touchscreen and for texts only. The phone will switch itself off without warning and it is not very good for teenagers and their social life. The battery life when being used for calls is not long and therefore would not be liked by a teenager or socialite. The qwerty keyboard is very good but after a while the keys become more difficult to press and frequently the 9 or 0 keys do not work. The slider may separate from the phone without warning.
