Industry analyst Gartner has announced in a report that in the first quarter of 2012, Android smartphones held a 56% market share, easily beating the 22.9% held by the Apple iPhone. The data from Gartner also showed that Samsung were by far the most popular manufacturer of Android devices, generating nearly 44% of that market share. Other manufacturers of Android devices, including HTC and Motorola, were all at less than 10%. Combined figures showed that one in every two smartphone sales was either a Samsung device or the iPhone. Competition is tough in the smartphone market, and right now it is RIM, the...

Apple has released a small update to iOS, bringing the most current version of the firmware up to 5.1.1. The small update delivers fixes for HDR photography and general OS bug fixes. Apple's revenue figures of £39.2 billion dollars, (£24.5 billion) showed an increase of 59% from a year ago. In total, the iPhone accounted for 58%of Apple's...
